No. I believe that Jesus was an excellent spiritual teacher. Other than that, I don't see how anyone could believe some dude got all the animals on the planet on one boat. Think about this old dude, trying to chase down chickens, rabbits, LIONS, tigers, and bears... oh my!

I love the idea of spiritual enlightenment but my personal opinion (don't crucify me for this) is that it can be found right here on earth at this exact moment. It's just the silence in between thoughts, and by raising your awareness and your presence to the "now" that you can reach a calm stillness within your mind that we all need.

Also, I think that the devil, or evil is simply "ego". Because ego is nothing but suffering. Ego can only survive in past thoughts, and future ideas which creates anxiety, fear, stress, doubt, etc. None of that can exist in the present moment. You can eliminate all of that simply by being here, now. What exists in the present stillness is calmness, beauty, love, creativity and peace. You can have memories of these but they soon leave, and can in turn cause suffering. That's all that spiritual enlightenment is, a calmness and connection to the present moment and to ourselves. By being in the "now", we connect with all things.

If anyone has ever done LSD or shrooms, you may relate. Those drugs help pull you into the present moment and become so aware of what is going on right now. That's where it all exists. I don't think you need religion or a set of rules for that. The word God is overused and has conflicting meanings now, I think a good replacement is the word Presence. After all, we're all a part of the idea of Presence.

We are all life and every moment of existence has led to this exact moment, which means we are all connected because we came from the same place, we need to lose the illusion of separateness and remember that our overall conscious awareness and present choices determine the outcome for life on this planet. Be aware of it ;).
