So I snapped a picture of a grey eagle yesterday, look at the names on BOTH street signs! by mynexgenin pics

[–]mynexgen[S] -1 points0 points ago

For Clarification, this is in Leesburg Florida. The people in this sub-division call these "Grey Eagles" or "Dusty Eagles", and yes I was told that this one is quite small (it was about a foot tall). I've seen them in the air, but never this close. It was kind of marked like a bald eagle, but instead of brown with a white head, it was grey with a lighter grey head. This is what I know. I was just shocked to see it, and was lucky enough to snap a few pics with my phone!

Is it worth getting a BlueRay player for my HTPC? by layzorin htpc

[–]mynexgen 2 points3 points ago

Yep, I've had one for well more than a year, I've used it maybe three times (HTPC owners rarely handle media once they've built), but one of those times was just a week ago when a friend brought over a disc. If I could go back in time I wouldn't have purchased it then, but if you're building a new HTPC they're cheap enough now why even bother buying a standard DVDR?

[–]mynexgen 1 point2 points ago

Yes, but only because they're relatively cheap now. I'm not sure you'll see a quality difference, but it will open the door to watching films a friend might bring over, or maybe the Directors cut of your favorite film that was a BLU-RAY exclusive(not to mention, you may want to rip a Blu-ray someday).

Redditors outside the US, what things can you do that the US can't? I'll get the wheel spinning. by yoghurt_ninjain AskReddit

I've never had an actual credit card, it seems wasteful. But my debit card has a visa logo so I've never been turned down. Maybe I've just been lucky.

We are asked at any store "credit or debit", of course ALL of our debit cards will now work as credit cards(well sort of, we won't be charged a percentage, it will just come out of our bank accounts), the big difference is if you choose debit you'll have to enter your PIN number to complete the transaction. This of course is stupid as hell, because it only means if you steal my card you just have to choose "credit" and you won't need to know my PIN. Wow, we are bass-ackwards. I want EFTPOS.

Admittedly the U.S. is pretty big and I've not seen even 30% of it, but I haven't ran into that problem in a very long time (I'm old as hell compared to most Redditors so I do remember when cash or check were your only two options!). BTW Canadian(and pretty much everyone else s) money makes the U.S. bills look stupid.

Yes we do, absolutely everywhere. We just call it a debit card.

I swear if I ever get to meet Stephen Colbert I'm taking this picture to get signed. When he gives me the odd look I'll say, "Don't worry, I'm from the internet".
