TROPHY CASE

Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng was hurriedly taken from a hospital Saturday and boarded a plane that took off for the United States by twolf1in worldnews

Having been rejected a tourist and two business visas, although all of my arrangements had been made (was supposed to attend GDC in San Francisco), I have to call bullshit on your "easier to migrate to the USA" claim. I ended up writing a fuck you email to the embassy and deciding I'm never setting foot in that self-absorbed shithole.

Cat and owner pooping together in the morning... that's companionship for you.

As a cat owner, I am fully aware my cat has no fucks to give about me. I love dogs and cats equally but I live in a rather small apartment. If you want a companion, get a cat. If you want affection, get a dog. I've always been aware of this. And I'm perfectly fine with it.

Taking apart the Fuji X100. by photojamin photography

My stomach churned. Sorry for your loss. Also, I tried looking at the bright side: a dismantled x100. I couldn't see the bright side. All I could see is something unfortunate.

When I was little, because the vitamin C pills felt tingly on the tip of my tongue, and since licking 9V gave me the same tingle I would lick 9V batteries thinking they contained vitamin C.

So far, every single Intel chip I've had was made in Malay. This is not to say it's not happening but so far I have yet to see a US made product being sold outside of the US.

We took a trip around Europe three years ago. After nearly two weeks of driving around, as we were leaving France and entering Italy with the sea to my right and a mountain to my left, at one point it hit me: a bunch of very smart people worked their asses off to make some bits of iron rub against each other at 3000 revolutions per minute or more for thousands and thousands of kilometres without a single problem. Also, some other smart people dug very large holes through a fucking mountain to make our trip shorter.

There are very few times when I've felt more humbled.

Why yes. Governments should be entrusted with our full confidence that they will do the right thing in such delicate matters. Particularly when it comes to protecting their own citizens.

A rather analogous situation is between Romania and Turkey. Currently Turkey has the sword of one of Romania's rulers, captured over 500 years ago. There's moderate public outcry that the sword should be returned to Romania. As far as I'm concerned, that sword ended up in Turkey's possession through a whole historical context that can not and should not be altered. It belongs to them (not to mention Turkey has been more than willing to loan the sword to Romania in order to be exhibited in a museum).
