Moving to Houston this summer... what do I need to know? by newslangin houston

West and South Side? I would go with West University, Galleria area, River Oaks, and Greenway Plaza. Meyerland could alos be a fairly decent option.

I personally prefer stuff north of 59 and little more centrally located, Upper Kirby, Montrose, Midtown. But living inside the loop is, IMO, the way to go.

Check the /r/houston dictionary in the side bar too to find out a little more about some of the houston lingo people are saying.

For me, this is such an easy answer. I could drink St. Arnold's Fancy Lawnmower for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day of my life.

Check the sidebar. There's tons of stuff to do here.

I will though answer your brewery question with St. Arnold's.

So...the room has reached capacity and they are holding people at the door. I guess sort of pointless to hold the table. So I'm heading out! Cheers.

So...is this still a thing? Lol. No one seems to be here yet and it's getting pretty crowded. I can hold this table if people are planning on making it, if not, I might start sellin to the highest bidder.

EDIT!!!!: Ok, I'm here. On the left side of the room. Fourth table from the back. Big, tall guy in a dark greenish/grayish jacket, dark hair. Fiddling on his phone.

6:15 would be a good time to get there early enough to save some seats. They will turn people away if the room gets too full, so best to be there by 7 if you plan on attending. You could get a side table that will hold about 12, maybe a little more. The middle tables are really really long and could hold as many people as needed.

EDIT Ok, I can get there and save seats, but I definitely won't be able to make it too much earlier than 6:15. So, if someone wants to volunteer to be there super early, I can help fend off people as soon as I arrive. But I will need to know how many people want to come so I can get a good space.

ANOTHER EDIT For those coming, bring cash. Each bingo card cost $5 and will let you play the whole night. Stampers are $1. Beer is $6/pitcher. Food is a couple of bucks. Bring in any alcoholic beverages (wine, liquor) you want other than Beer and Sodas, since those are sold there.

Is it just me, or does owning (and showing off) a kindle reveal an incredible number of book-feeling, book-smelling fetishists hitherto unknown? by Targin kindle

I love my kindle for it's sheer convenience. I can use it while i'm at the gym, it's easier to hold while laying in bed. I'm currently reading Under the Dome. I waited until I had my Kindle to buy it because a book that large almost seems impractical to try to lounge around the house reading, but on the Kindle it's perfect. But....

I love going to a book store and just browsing. Just picking up books, reading the covers, looking at what else is on the shelf right next to it. I like a lot of graphic design books and those just won't translate on to a Kindle. I also really like recommending books that I own to specific friends who I think would enjoy them and then just saying "Yeah, go ahead and take it with you, you'll love this book."

I have an extensive book collection as it is and I don't see myself giving up physical books just because of my Kindle. But dang, i love this little eReader.

I guess i tend to interpret BYOB as BYOBottle (of whatever alcoholic beverage you want) only here you can't bring beer in but liquor and wine is ok.

We were just talking about this last night at the meetup. I was there back in September and I probably showed up around 6:15 and there were plenty of seats, but from what I hear it continues to fill up faster and faster.

And one more comment is that yes the beer is cheap, but it's also byob (other than beer, since they're selling it) and also byofood.

Empire Cafe is right by my apt. I most likely will be there, but a little closer to 7.

Also Houston Public Library downtown has a coffe shop on the bottom floor if you're needing a place that's extremely quiet.

Te House of Tea on Fairview

River Oaks Coffee House on Wesheimer (not sure if it's still open)

Brasil on westheimer (right across the street from Agora. It can get a little loud but they also have a back patio that be quite nice depending on the weather.)
