Nazi Party rally in 1937 from the stands. by [deleted]in history

I can't see a Zepplinfeld picture without sharing this picture and this one. Imagine seeing that in person...

Notice in the first one the swastika on top of the zepplin tribune building isn't added yet, but the wooden eagle is already gone.

Albert Speer Playboy Interview by Fidelzin history

Southernbeaumont's comment is right on with what I remember from reading Inside the Third Reich.

I would only add that Hitler, besides being a failed artist, claimed to have also wanted to become an architect. Hitler felt close to Speer because he thought they had this in common, and he saw men like Speer as the future of Germany.

Flak Towers – Legacy of the Luftwaffe by nomdewebin history

I've been to the one in North Berlin, Humboldthain, too. The Berlin Underworld Association performs tours inside of it during the summer, but I didn't get to go since it was March :( We did check out the Subway bunker just north of the Flak Tower though, that was interesting.

I need to rewatch Help, I know that's in there somewhere though.

The Maunsell Sea Forts were small fortified towers built in the Thames and Mersey estuaries during the Second World War to help defend the United Kingdom. They take their name from their designer Guy Maunsell. by zlocestiin offbeat

This made me think of the Flak Towers the German's built during World War II to defend cities from Allied bombings. I've been on top of the one in North Berlin, which isn't saying much since it's half buried, but the Berlin Underworld Association does tours of the inside during certain times of the year.

How you doin? Matt LeBlanc (Joey from Friends) is this week's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car by intheballparkin TopGear

[–]mestguy182 5 points6 points ago

This, I don't think he cares about cars, I think he sees them as a fashion accessory and that's the end of it. Plus that shit looked ugly.

Is anyone else worried about the direction of Top Gear? by AustinMiniManin Autos

That's interesting about Carolla's comments, I had never heard that before. I guess when watching the show I'm always aware that it's scripted pretty heavily but I always try to keep that in the back of my mind, ignorance is bliss right? But so many parts of the Indian special were just too blatantly scripted to ignore. Hopefully the regular season is better.

I think this was the first episode I've watched in awhile that actually frustrated me. The Delhi dinner was too staged, obviously putting car keys in a bucket isn't going to work, the train race, the off road tires, all of it felt horribly forced and predictable, especially the horn to brake light prank on James... as somebody who has played this prank on someone before, I can confirm it doesn't really work; the second you sit in your car and close the door, your foot hits the brake pedal and the gig is up, yet we're supposed to believe how confused James is while driving along and hearing his horn beep every time he hits the pedal.

The other specials were so good because Jezza, James and Hammond are in a constant struggle to make their cars reach the finish line, and the frustration and amusement, both with their cars and each other, are what make the travel/race episodes so great.. and that just wasn't there this time.

Producers offered Daniel Craig the next 5 movies in 12 years. Eight films total. by lazerwolf852in JamesBond007

That's actually a really good point, I think I made my comment before coffee this morning! Haha. Bond's ability to change things up with a fresh face every once in awhile is definitely a big advantage of the franchise!

I like Daniel Craig a lot... but I would hate to see him like Roger Moore was in A View to a Kill... those sex scenes were just awkward.
