paris mid-feb advice?

queues for going up the eiffel tower are quite long, even at this time of year. not sure if you can avoid this by going early.

i like the DK books to give you lots more ideas, they're very pictorial, with maps, ideas and info.

the paris metro is easy to understand and use, save miles of walking and get around more quickly. 12 euros or so for a book of 10 tickets. there's a great phone app for planning trips on the metro, called RATP (after the company that runs it)

use tripadvisor (get the phone app) to avoid eating in bad restaurants

learn some simple french words; please, thank you, hello, excuse me, and maybe "parlez vous anglais" (do you speak english?)

d'oh! I was completely wrong. there's nothing wrong with the question or diagram.

i would have seen it quicker if the question was "given these five paths, show me which ones are candidates to be expanded next by the breadth first algorithm, in the current iteration of the loop

hmm...(this is not a big deal, generally i'm loving the ai class) but the problem here is definitely the way the question is worded, the diagram contributes to the confusion too.

the wording/diagram strongly suggest that the algorithm has reached the point that A is already fully expanded (so frontier has paths A-S, A-T, A-Z) and has only just expanded the A-S node fully (so frontier now now has A-T, A-Z, A-S-O, A-S-R, A-S-F) - the question then comes across as - which of these five paths are candidates for further expansion.

the wording should be clear about where the algo is in its progress through the map. in my view, it is not.

@gverig - i'm not interested in maximising my quiz score. (btw it also bugs me when people answer starting with "err..." - as if to say 'what you're saying makes little sense, but anyway, try this' - but otherwise, thanks for your comment)

@BeeRye3 - depth first does makes sense for graph search, sketch it out on paper, once with depth and once with breadth first, and you'll soon see the difference

if you know that something you're going to do WILL cause violence, then doesn't it make sense to make sure that what you're doing is important enough to merit that risk? even when you have the right? perhaps this doofus pastor thinks that earning himself some fame is justification enough for getting other innocent people killed.
