What is the worst advice you've ever received? by sophalopein AskReddit

[–]massey42 6 points7 points ago

There appears to be a lot of confusion here surrounding this, so allow me to clear some of it up: Breastfeeding is effective at preventing ovulations, if, and only if, it is done regularly. If night feedings are given up, or if a feeding is skipped, follicular recruitment (and subsequent ovulation) can occur. So while your doctor was correct, he or she should've clarified that the breastfeeding must be regular.

funny "ads" in northwest dining hall.... by waywardmanin UCONN

The "ads" contained personal information (phone numbers), so per Reddit guidelines, we as mods had to remove it.

They do indeed have a right to be here, but that doesn't mean we can't organize a counter-protest.

So that meetup.. by Kim_Hyoyeonin UCONN

[–]massey42 0 points1 point ago

It's coming. There were some conflicts between schedules for the officers, but I think we just have to plan a meetup that we might not all be able to attend. I actually meant to post earlier this week about a possible one on Friday... I'll go do that now.

Spring Semester Meetups by massey42in UCONN

You're not required to sign up for the club in order to attend meetups. The sign up is more so that we maintain official university status so that we are allowed to reserve areas, go on trips, etc.

Actually, yes, it is listed as our official website.

I'm aware that some ideas have been thrown around. However, nothing has been officially organized. As one of the presidents, that's where I come in.

New Semester Meet-up? by wpcvenomin UCONN

[–]massey42 0 points1 point ago

I agree. I was planning to post about it sometime this weekend (I was busy these past couple of days).

The only problem is that because we're a Tier I organization, we don't have access to funding from USG. So, if we're going to plan something off-campus, everybody is going to have to chip in. We might be able to get group discounts at some places, but unfortunately nothing will be free.

I agree with you. Unfortunately I was studying all day yesterday so I didn't have a chance to remove it.

I just don't think this is the best place to organize it. Remember, everyone, this is the official website for a university approved club. If one of the officials came just to check on our club, this would probably get our status removed.

how to make my roommate by keys? by enjoitreyin UCONN

I see your point. Maybe you could suggest to your RA for him to perform a "random room key check" or something, where he goes around your area making sure everyone's keys are correct.

It's completely made up, but if your RA understands that you want to remain confidential, he should do it for your sake. And honestly, I think it's believable enough that your roommate wouldn't question it.

Talk to your RA. This isn't something you should have to handle.

Meetup: Friday 10/28 at 7 pm in ITE C80 by massey42in UCONN

Well, I was hoping that by making it at 7 pm and by making it really short we would be able to avoid that.

Also, the next two weekends after that are absolutely dreadful for me though, so I wouldn't be able to host one again until probably the 18th.

But you're probably right. This might work better if we just have topics posted here sometime soon. So... I'm deleting this thread and canceling the meeting.

I've found 24in60 to be very useful for me when I don't have time to read a whole newspaper or a bunch of articles. They usually will focus on the most major issues of the day. It is also fairly international, so Canadians should be able to find it practical as well.

You can (sort of), but I haven't done it before, so I don't know how to do it right away. I'll work on it this weekend.

I know it says you need an advisor on the website, but so far nobody I've talked to at the DSA has said we need an advisor. So, as of right now, I don't think it's a big deal. If, later down the road, they say we need an advisor in order to do something, we'll get on that right away.
