We are still innovating... What the author failed to get it, is that each generation bring a change. While prior generations brought in electricity, transportation and other stuff, the new era brings in the inter-connection of the world, easy access to information, facilitation of networking. Innovation is happening, you can't see it because you are part of it.

Paginator : A simple and easy pagination class that doesn't require a database connection. It is compatible with Twitter's Bootstrap framework pagination. I made the class for my own project and feeling like giving back to the community by mardixin PHP

This was just an example. You can use Paginator::getCurrentPage(), Paginator::getStartCount(), Paginator::getEndCount(), Paginator::getTotalPages() to retrieve the right count. So if using another database, you still have the option.
