I need some advice on a MTB purchase? by theBigGloomin MTB

[–]manuelacon 4 points5 points ago

I don't know if i'm just being blind but I don't see a size anywhere on that advert. I wouldn't be buying it unless I have sat on it, do you know what size it is / that it fits before you push the button on this?

Whats the terrain like up there? Planning on hitting drops and jumps or are you going to keep your wheels on the ground?

Is experience the best way to hone technique or is there a smarter (easier?) way by Avasealin MTB

[–]manuelacon 1 point2 points ago

There's more to it than just buying some new kit. There is no panacea to skills. Practice more and get fitter.

How do you guys find the time to MTB almost every day? by flinters17in MTB

[–]manuelacon 0 points1 point ago

Why don't you just go out after work? It's light until half 9 here now. If it was dry and a bit warmer I would be out a lot more than the 1 after work ride I currently get.

What makes a good pedal a good pedal? by snatchinyopeopleupin MTB

[–]manuelacon 1 point2 points ago

Large flat area for your foot. Good amount of pins to grip into your shoes. Some have crew in pins that can be replaced if you snap them off. Pins should be tall enough to grip your shoes. A grease port will let you keep the bearings running smooth for longer. I run something like these at the minute. A bit thick but reasonably priced and the pins are very strong.

Have you adjusted the seat down slightly? A small amount of movement makes a big difference.

I love that idea for videos, there was one a while back of some boys in the states or Canada doing the same thing while hitting massive jumps.

I am making a cost, weight and component spreadsheet for my bike, I stumbled across this site - thought it might be useful for some of you by manuelaconin MTB

[–]manuelacon[S] 0 points1 point ago

I completed my spreadsheet yesterday and then weighed my bike, I'm still nearly two kg out between the two of them. Pretty frustrating.

I see you new, please in future just use the upvote arrow to show approval. Saying "lol" adds nothing to the comments. Reddit has tens of thousands of users, if everyone said lol and other such comments the comments section wouldn't be worth opening.

Bottom Bracket sizing? by zpiercyin MTB

[–]manuelacon 0 points1 point ago

Make sure you work out how many spacers you need. I didn't, my cranks kept coming loose because the locking nut wouldn't tighten fully. Felt like a moron when someone pointed it out.

How are the rental bikes over there? I am planning a trip for this winter, well December time so winter over here. I was considering renting an AM bike and keeping it for a week while I traveled around. Possible without getting massively ripped off? Edit nice video :)
