I'm staying a virgin until I'm married. by WeDontFightFairin TwoXChromosomes

Speaking as someone who grew up in this culture, your sympathy/criticism of something she has no control over is not what she needs. Constructive criticisms might be relevant, but most importantly, safe sex practices and relevant personal sexual experiences can help a young person decide how and when to have sex.

Also, I don't know why this is getting downvotes. This is a valid this for someone who's 15 to go through. 15 is too young for most people to have sex, and it sounds like it's too young for you. It's fine to be a virgin until you're married but also let yourself grow and re-evaluate how you feel every few months. Things change rapidly through college.

I thought this when I was 15, too. I lost my virginity to a wonderful man at 19, whom I was NOT in a monogamous relationship with. Now, I've been in the most amazing relationship of my life for almost 3 years. I'm 25 now. Things change. You may still hold your convictions in 5 to 10 years, but if you don't, that's ok, too. I won't speak for everyone, but I'm better off making the decisions I've made than if I'd stayed celibate. 15 is sooo young to make life long decisions; take life as it comes, girl!

If you decide to do it, please be safe. Get his real name, and let him know that you've told somebody where you are, what you're doing, and who you're with. Dan Savage has great advice for sex workers, which is what you would be. I recommend listening to some of the podcasts or browsing his website.

Sex question by le_amo_redditin TwoXChromosomes

This usually results from air being jammed up there and getting stuck, making you hurt and feel bloaty. I don't really have a solution for you. This happens to me occasionally, and I just deal with it.

I bought a cute teddy bear at a thrift store and would love to give it to my friend for his new baby. by Ehazyin TwoXChromosomes

You can throw it in the washing machine, and it should clean up nicely. That said, ask the parents before you give it to the child!

To add on to this, if you're masturbating a lot (which it sounds like you are) in a way that is not really representative of sex (e.g. too hard on the clit), it can be very hard to come with a partner. Your body becomes trained to react to a sensation that is not provided by sex. Change up your routine. If you're normally all hands, use a vibrator, or go softer or slower. See if you can train your body to a different, more sex-like sensation.

If you're worried about cost, this blog has a ton of healthy recipes for low cost (it tells you the cost per serving, too!). A lot of the recipes are super easy to make. Do some digging through the archives, and I'm sure you can find something you want to try. You can start small with a few recipes you like and add in more and more as you find more food that you enjoy.

UTI's and how to get rid of them? by anastasia-zabiniin TwoXChromosomes

[–]luffagus 2 points3 points ago

Azo makes two kinds of medicine, although most people only seem to know about the numbing/peeing orange kind. Get Azo cranberry pills, NOT the Azo numbing medicine. It's basically condensed cranberry juice, so you get all the benefits of it without drinking all the calories. The cranberry pills cleared up an antibiotic-resistant UTI for me. They are AMAZING!

Age appropriate clothes for a 24 year old chick? by BlindKeyLimePiein TwoXChromosomes

Nordstrom will tailor anything for free, and it sounds like you need to buy clothes and get them tailored to you! This may solve your pants issue if the "regular" styles fit you better than petite but are too long. I know they have a rep for being expensive, but they also have a lot of less expensive clothes. For example, I just bought a pair of awesome quality, nice-looking and -fitting jeans for $40. You can also their clothes online, with free shipping AND return shipping, and then take it to the store to get it tailored if you like it.

If you're looking for a cheap fix, I bought a memory foam slipcover for my seat and it does wonders! They are around $20, and even places like target usually carry them.

are you a guy?

Girlfriend stayed at ex-boyfriend's apartment. I trust her, but is this too much? by ZeroRootBeerin relationships

[–]luffagus 2 points3 points ago

If she called you ahead of time and let you know where she was staying and what was up, she obviously cares about your feelings more than she cares about this guy. If she had wanted to lie, she could have, and if you had said, "I'M NOT OKAY WITH THAT," I'm sure she would have figured something else out if she could have. I've been in that situation before. I think you're pretty solid, dude. As long as she's telling you what's up, you're fine. Honesty is really all you can ask for in a relationship.

Race issue and family and at a loss, help. by andanotherthrowawaylin relationships

[–]luffagus 2 points3 points ago

In an almost 3 year relationship with a person of another race, which is unacceptable to a lot of my family. I'm from the deep South, and my boyfriend is Indian-American. I made a choice early on to be upfront with who I was with and what he meant to him, and it's all gone over well. Even though my family is VERY conservative, I've always presented our relationship as something I am doing, and not something they have control over (we started dating at 22 and 23, FYI). They were never mean, and almost three years later, they understand how we are good for each other. He's a great guy, and they know that, and he makes me a better person, also.

TL;DR Be assertive. Don't act like your family has any choice in who you date. They can be great; you just have to overpower them

Hey 2X, I just officially completed my Master's in a male dominated field with little to no support from my (incredibly sexist) male advisor. Every time, I'd get down about finishing my amazing boyfriend and my wonderful puppy would lift me up. Here's a picture of my party pooch to celebrate!!! by luffagusin TwoXChromosomes

[–]luffagus[S] 0 points1 point ago

nope, not in the South! Although, I'm from there. This sexism is worse than anything I'd ever experienced in 23 years in the South. The South often gets an unfairly bad rap.
