This'll probably get buried, but:

I was sitting at home one day and the doorbell rang. It was an old Hispanic woman, and she spoke no English whatsoever. She started pointing across the street at my neighbors' house, and gesturing like she needed a key. Knowing our family had the same cleaning woman as our neighbors, but never having met our cleaning woman myself (I was always at school or sleeping until she left) I called my mom and asked her if it was OK that I give this woman the spare key to our neighbors' house. She said yes, it was fine.

Let her in the house, and a minute later my phone rang. It was my mom, calling to tell me that she had called our neighbor. It was the neighbor's mom. Did I not mention our neighbors were Puerto Rican?
