Would anyone be interested in doing form-checks? by Aixin ultimate

I'd love to try and help; it's difficult without seeing it in person but I'd give it a shot.

I'm a former club and college coach.

Park's my favorite player on united, I'm always disappointed if I watch one of their games and he's not on.

Come to think of it, Betis could really use a player like him, I wonder when his contract ends...

Vision by llimllibin ultimate

one of the problems I have with a lot of these articles is they give general advice but little specifics.

That's what I love about them. You can't give specific advice to build vision; you just can't.

It's a place where people put out "big think" articles, articles you can mull over for months and consider how/where to use them in your own practice.

Coaches, (how) do you participate in practices? by SenseiCAYin ultimate

[–]llimllib 0 points1 point ago

  1. Girls don't throw like guys. The girls on the A-team don't throw like he does. Train like you play.

  2. There's so many skills the B-teamers need work on, you can't work on all of them. Pick the most important and attack those. As I said in my top-level comment, throwing and catching should be the #1 focus of training college B-teamers.

If there was a foul called. It would get sent back to the thrower had she kept possession of it.

Negative, not true in 2008 and not true today.

There's one pass continuation; so play was over the moment she caught the disc, and her spike didn't matter at all. The relevant rule:

Any time an infraction is called, the continuation rule applies. Continuation Rule: Play stops when the thrower in possession acknowledges that an infraction has been called. If a call is made when the disc is in the air or the thrower is in the act of throwing, or if the thrower fails to acknowledge the call and subsequently attempts a pass, play continues until the outcome of that pass is determined.

The only line of that which has changed since 2008 is the "if the thrower fails to acknowledge the call" bit, which doesn't effect the situation of your game.

Know the rules, it can save turnovers :)

can it be a turnover if she scored?

No, as long as she's in the end zone.

A couple of years ago at nationals, an Ironside player (IIRC) caught it just outside the end zone, thought he was in, observer ruled out, but he ran around the end zone and spiked the disc, causing a turnover. Whoops.

If they don't have somebody who can throw to those cuts, it's better if they wait until they have somebody who can. If they do have somebody who can throw them, get her to throw them.

There's lots of skills other than out cuts that these players need work on.

I think it's better if you don't participate.

They're not going to face a player like you on the field, nor should they learn to rely on a player like you on the field, and there's no way you can see what's going on on the field if you're playing as accurately as you can if you stay out of the game.

Even if you are short of numbers, there are plenty of creative ways to practice skills that don't involve you playing.

Be their coach.

My advice, unrelated to whether or not you should play:

Throwing, throwing, throwing. These girls probably need no skill anywhere near as much as they need practice throwing and catching. Spend most of your practice having them throw in different situations. Have them throw standing still and after catching. Have them throw to stationary and moving receivers. Have them throw to cutters moving in and cutters moving sideways (only to cutters moving out for the ones that are ready).

Try to get them to throw on their own time, in a relaxed setting. Make sure each girl throws with people other than her good friends. Make sure rookies throw with vets, vets with vets, and rookies with rookies.

A drill I used to do with my rookies was: everybody pair off and stand 5 feet apart. Each throw you throw to your partner such that they don't have to move to catch it, they get to move back one large step. If the partner had to move, reset all the way back to 5 feet.

The nice thing about this drill is that it works for the good throwers and the bad ones.

Another simple drill: 10 complete flicks, 10 complete backhands, and 10 complete hammers. Teach your girls how to throw hammers; in my experience most young college girls struggle a lot with this skill.

Csusmatt hit the nail on the head, I studied abroad in Seville in 2001.

I didn't follow them for years after, until the internet made it possible to watch their games, so I picked it back up.

there has to be some boundaries to what your country is doing.

shrug hey man, we agree. We even have a clause in our constitution about "due process", but the un-elected officials of our government feel that they're not bound by it when they're on the internet, and the courts support them.

Sorry.

Sincerely,

I imagine it is not simple to take over a grocery store, figure out the supply chain, re-staff the store, plan a remodeling, probably finance the remodeling, hire a contractor, and get started on the remodeling. All while running a store that's open.

A year seems like a totally reasonable amount of time for that.

They're clearing out stock in preparation for renovations.

I'm shocked by the vehemence of people's feelings towards F&G, which hasn't even had a chance to get the store set up the way they want yet.

I'm halfway through... maybe I'll do so after I finish it? It's not as neatly wrapped into chapters as Ulysses is.
