The doc specifically states the tessellation shader is meant to work for LODing so it's meant to be a counterpart to the DX11 tessellation system, you're comparing the wrong things here.

There seems to be very little overlap in what they can do, tessellation subdivides polygons to generate a higher level of detail, geometry shaders create new geometry on the GPU. They are two completely different things and while you could in theory get them to do the same thing they are most certainly not the same thing and any overlap would be a silly thing to desperately try and use given OpenGL already has a geometry shader.

So sorry but your pet theory of tessellation being easier to use is kind of null and void, tessellation is meant for a very simple and straightforward goal in OpenGL, kind of like tessellation in DirectX.

When it does though it's not going to be a pretty sight, Israel hasn't exactly created a peaceful existence for itself and has gone out of its way to make everyone in the area hate it. I find it funny how the country has been made on a proverbial faultline, it's not a question of if but when that fault line becomes unstable and swallows the country whole. What do they plan to do then? Do they seriously think they're going to be able to maintain military superiority forever in that region? What happens when the country invariably weakens and can no longer defend itself (hey it will happen, even if people are in denial about it). They haven't left the option of weakening with dignity and not being attacked, everyone in the region hates them and they realizing this do their best to keep other countries in the region weaker than itself, which fuels even more hatred for them.

No super power lasts forever, especially a regional super power which relies heavily on foreign aid. I guess some people have just been able to delude themselves into thinking it's going to last forever or just don't want to think what's going to happen when it ends.

16 and 24 as well, which is most PC games these days as they are straight console ports.

I am not a fan of p2p at this point, there are too many limiting factors, and the technology is there for it to work, but it hasn't been refined yet as Mw2 and borderlands has shown us.

Someone hasn't played MW2 online and is just shooting off rhetoric like a good little karma whore.

They work, but I've had a few too many problems with p2p to say it's going to completely replace dedicated hosting in the next 5 or 10 years.

It's already completely replaced dedicated hosting, dedicated hosting i snow the rare exception used in some cases.

For larger games consoles use dedicated hosting so it's meh, but for anything needing less than or 32 players it's striaght up p2p 99% of the time.

No one is saying that Mac is a superior gaming platform

I'm not saying it is, however for it to really be some sort of 'dawn' for Mac gaming where every developer who makes PC games ports to Mac too then there better be something real happening beyond one company porting its games to Mac. There are a whole bunch of excellent PC games which are also on the Mac, yes, games of the same calibur of Valves lineup, yet there is no grand revelation happening.

Having Steam on the Mac might give some small incentive to smaller developers to put their games on the Mac but that's nothing new, Macs typically have considerably less piracy rates than the PC so it's a logical choice for indie devs, inf act many indie devs report better sales on the Mac for this reason alone. However high end PC gaming will sooner die than move to the Mac.
