I think its more of the portability factor. A fixed blade is a lot harder to carry, especially in the pocket. The seat belt cutter is because he's an EMT. I wouldn't consider that. Folders are just more compact and easier to carry. Hope that answers your question!

Just some comments on everything:

I love my phone. It's great except the battery life that lasts me about 10ish hours. Instead of carrying around a charger and plugging it in, I find the external battery to be much more convenient so I'm not leaving my phone plugged into a wall not being watched.
I use to have a credit card sized flash drive but then I lost it. I'm looking for something to replace it with.
I just got it the other day, but it seems to work really well. Its kind of heavy, but also durable. Not sure if I will pocket carry or put it in my backpack.
The skeletool is great. At first I hesitated getting it because it looked weird, but it has a great form factor. I used to carry a Gerber Crucial, but that broke on me... so it was replaced with the leatherman.
The compound is great. I love the way it feels in the hand. I wish it was US made, but I got it relatively cheap, so I don't care.
Explained in 1. Works decently. Only complaint is that it takes a very long time to charge my phone fully. Especially if I'm using it.
Just got it yesterday, but I like it so far.

OP, If you don't carry a knife already I highly suggest a Leatherman Skeletool as a barebones multitool. It has a nice form factor and a pocket clip that makes it a great EDC!

Another EMT and CPR Instructor here. Everything he said is correct, except for saying the rescue breaths are null. That is incorrect. Rescue breaths are helpful, but not in the first few minutes, which is what you would be doing as a bystander. You still have available Oxygen in your blood and lungs to last a few minutes and compressions are the most vital part at that point, but once a professional mask becomes available.

You absolutely can, I just wasn't sure how you felt how you felt about having 3 accounts open. You can leave it in savings, but there aren't any benefits aside from the higher interest rate, but even then you are literally counting pennies. Just my 2 cents.

Hey, I'm a year older and have gone through this whole ordeal. While I have a regular income, I keep 2 main bank accounts open. I have a Bank of America account open and and Ally account. For you I suggest having a students checkings account open at Bank of America (no fees and you have a bank to rely on to put cash in the bank). I suggest Ally, you have a checkings account open and a savings if you wish, but since you don't have income, I suggest just a checkings account. You should keep most of the money in the Ally bank and keep your spending money in the Bank of America account. This way, you know not to spend all of it at once, but you still have access to your money because of free ATM usage at Ally. Hope this helps!

I also suggest the chase freedom or discover. You might have a hard time getting approved for chase, but discover shouldn't be a problem. Both of them have great rewards and no fees.

Wow! I'm in NJ. The basic class cost me $270 and the refresher is right around that price. I wouldn't bother if it was $25, but its not. =/ But I will plan on taking the refresher class, Thank you!

Congrats! I'm in the same boat. My parents said that if I got a motorcycle, I would have to pay for school. Thing is, they told me this after I took the MSF basic. I might get one next year when I graduate, so I just had a couple questions.

Were you able to retain any of the skills from MSF?
How did you relearn? Do you plan on taking another MSF class again?
