Welcome to the London Summer Olympics where local landlords have now taken to evicting tenants in order to price gouge tourists. by syncwpin london

price gouge

Dude, come on. Taking advantage of a short-term change in the demand curve when there is no emergency whatsorever is not "price grouging", "profiteering" or even "unfair", it's simply the best way of allocating a scarce resource.

I seriously don't know why people fail at the elementary every time there is an economics-related article on r/London or r/UnitedKingdom..

60 years of the TV Detector Vans - 1st Feb 1952 by geekchicin unitedkingdom

Except that my question was about the disclosure of techniques used to gather evidence in criminal trials.

So they are completely pointless other than as a scare tactic.

Well I guess theoretically they could use the magic vans to detect offenders and then come peep through the window using their eyes. Sort of like how Enigma intelligence was "confirmed" through other plausible sources before being used.

This sounds bogus. I would love to know how cross-examination of this evidence could possibly occur.

Reddit, would you/did you circumcise your son? Why or why not? by apple_jickeybeanin AskReddit

[–]lamby 0 points1 point ago

Why the hell are you on here if you're just going to tell everyone their statements are irrelevant?

-_- As this obviously needs to be spelled out for you; if someone is using fallacious reasoning to support a cause, then you should call them out on it. And this counts double if you agree with the cause, for reasons that should be clear even to you.

Reddit is all about asking people's opinions.

Snort. I wouldn't like to use your idea of Reddit; an endless, arid patch of middle ground where everyone is just "expressing their opinion" and the only thing that isn't tolerated is disagreement. A soulless, collectivised Disneyland for the mind. Screw that.

Reddit, would you/did you circumcise your son? Why or why not? by apple_jickeybeanin AskReddit

[–]lamby -4 points-3 points ago

My whole point is that that is irrelevant.

It's better, actually, because foreplay involves a lot less spit as lubrication, which makes me a lot more comfortable doing it.

Your preference is irrelevant; even if every lady in the world prefered the other way, it would not be grounds to give cosmetic surgery to a month-old baby.

Do not editorialise titles. Also there is something worrying with your formulation "I don't know what she's talking about [but I completely disagree with her]."

What are YOUR favorite trios? by JJTheJetPlane5657in chambermusic

I believe Beethoven Opus 8 was originally a wind piece with viola (?) so that might be an easier route.

There are two Mendelssohn piano trios, I assume you mean no 1 though.

Can anyone recommend some good String Octet pieces? by davidjwiin chambermusic

[–]lamby 4 points5 points ago

I've played the Bargiel and Schostokovich octets but none of them light a candle to the Mendelssohn. The two Brahms sextets might be up your street though.
