I agree, light rail is no replacement, a subway system is the way forward if Brisbane is to move away from the "county town" people like to think of it as. Subways are proven in he worlds largest cities (NY, London, etc) we make the existing stations into stairs, even keep the parking. We should add more CBD stations eg. QUT GP/Riverstage, Gabba, New Farm. We should also look at replacing the existing lines with roads, 4 tracks would easily convert to a 6 lane arterial, taking some pressure of the existing road network giving an alternate route so the city is not ground to a standstill after 1 accident.
