Doug Jones might be one of your favorite actors that you've never heard of... by humblebragin movies

We handle/manage the technical placement of lights and electrical distribution in a very basic sense. Pretty much anything the cinematographer needs light-wise we execute in some form or fashion.

Doug Jones might be one of your favorite actors that you've never heard of... by humblebragin movies

I was gaffer on a film he starred in. At a party before the shoot he came up to me and rubbed my head. He said, "Be a good puppy or else." Then he walked to his car.

On the first day of filming, I was setting something up and he approached me and said, "Have you been a good puppy?" I said, "Well, I don't know..." Then Doug proceeded to spank me and said, "Be a good puppy."

Another story. At video village, the director was confused as to why the second AC (guy clapping the slate) was giggling before every shot. It wasn't until about five days in that he realized that Doug was tickling him.

Doug Jones is probably the nicest, most humble actor I've ever met.

Can anyone here in r/filmmakers explain this to me? by mrbrycein Filmmakers

Studios make big budget Blockbusters that make billions so that they can support Oscar bait/"independent" film. Winning awards bring clout to a studio.

So in fact, Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer's films that you hate on actually support the films you want to watch.

When I worked in a pizza place we used to send people out to get "Dough Repair Kits" for the holes in the dough.

We also asked them to air out the walk-in freezer because our filter had gone bad. This consisted of catching air in a big trash bag and opening it outside of the freezer.

Man, we were assholes.

Roasted my first chicken today! by stopthebeftsin Cooking

[–]jures 3 points4 points ago

After roasting in my cast iron skillet, I'll usually cook some onions in the remaining fat. This is either a good gravy base or I toss some blanched green beans and apple cider vinegar. I'll also quarter some carrots and coat them in oil with salt/pepper/garlic/rosemary and cook them in the oven.

If you'd like to have a crispy skin and are adamant about cooking breast down, you cover the chicken with salt and pepper and roast at 500 degrees for however long it takes to brown the skin. Flip the bird, and bring it back down to 425 until the internal temp reaches 160-170 degrees. Should be a little under an hour depending on the size.

Also, many people swear by stuffing chickens/turkeys, but what they don't understand is that what you're creating is a bacteria haven. The chicken is cooked to kill the bacteria, but the stuffing does not. Even if you don't eat or reserve the stuffing, the bacteria is still there.

Easiest recipe ever. Bacon in cast iron, onion in bacon fat, brussels sprouts mixed in, oven for 25 minutes. by Sucka27in food

[–]jures 0 points1 point ago

Whenever I do this, I add a bit of balsamic vinegar to caramelize the onions. A bit of butter also works.

Butter and olive oil are not recommended for cooking at high temps. An oil with a high smoke point would mitigate setting off your smoke alarm. Also, olive oil isn't meant to be scorched like that.

My friend was nearly killed by a drunk driver in July. After months of surgeries and rehab, he remains almost $1 million in debt. He cowrote and recorded a song. Buy it for $.99, and help him get out of debt doing what he loves. Link in comments. Here he is with his family today. by juresin pics

Is there a reason this fell of the frontpage/pics? I can't find it by scrolling, but I can search my comment history and it's still there.

People have had problems finding this post.

This was an old post his close friend set up for him. At work, I have no way of confirming I'm not scamming you except the blog posts dated back to August. I can do something more substantial later, like a self pic from Billy.
