Ugh, the typical pose required of all women in an action movie.

Grew up in a tiny town in rural Australia - this kind of burn was common during the 70s, early 80s. We'd do it because it was fun to peel skin from shoulders to butt. Horrible but true. I haven't tanned since I was 15, but I miss that part of the burn. :)

15 minutes ago I almost died. I was ratcheting a 3500 lbs boat onto a trailer and the hook point broke. It missed my head by less than an inch. What near death experiences have you had Redditors? by Ecuatorianoin AskReddit

Am pretty sure I have this. My grandad and uncle both died of it (grandad in his sleep on his 64th birthday, uncle, in remote outback driving a massive truck, luckily he swerved off road) and I have an odd heart. Odd = murmurs, resting heart rate of 48bpm, just like them. Father and brother are the same. Hey, there are worse ways to go, if that's my bag, that's fine by me.

Waukegan Man Takes Plea Deal After Sewing Son's Butt to fix a fistula instead of taking him to hospital by jodesin politics

Unfortunately, this is the result of desperate people who can't afford or don't qualify for health insurance. Poor kid ended up in hospital for a month because of the infection.

The flipside of that is when I did do intensive gym training, some women were getting pressure from their partners not to develop better musculature than their partners. Not in terms of 'big' but better definition.

Our 84-year-old organic chemistry professor just finished his last orgo lecture ever, after 54 years teaching. We gave him an applause and requested a picture. Shortly afterwards, he started crying. by laziestengineerin pics

You and the submitter and anyone else from that class should write a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, asking if they would consider giving him a university honour of some kind, perhaps an honorary doctorate? People like this Professor are the solid workers and teachers of the university system. They make not make the great discoveries, but the information they impart can go on to create great scientists.

People used to have much bigger families, and in those families, there was a social obligation to 'provide' a priest. So one of them was usually approached or groomed from a young age that if suitable, they would be special, a priest.

Medical Professionals of Reddit, what's the most fucked up thing you've seen? (NSFW / NSFL) by PhilosophicFruitFlyin AskReddit

Curious, given the lady's age and communication capabilities...is it possible that someone sealed her up (obviously a bad decision, but we are talking a time where bad things were done to people of this level of need without repercussions) to make care easier?

The Friend-Zone is bad... but this is just horrible. by AlucardVIin gameofthrones

[–]jodes 2 points3 points ago

Sure, its a joke until you're the gender that is repeatedly criticized every day for refusing to return the attractions of another, just because they choose to like you. Many on Reddit seem to have this idea that women can't be friends, either. If you like someone but she isn't attracted to you, man the fuck up and be friends with her. Treating her as an equal may lead to her recommending someone who does find you attractive.

Meh, just because you like someone, doesn't mean they are obligated to like you back. Nor is the person horrible for not returning that type of affection. Even if all things were equal for them in a social sense, he's far too old to be chasing someone that young.

She did nothing other than be disabled near others. No bumping, no accidents, nothing. Some people are just arseholes.

London was where the main problems happened. Unfortunately, its tainted her whole travel experience.

O. MY. GOD. People are so fucking cruel to others with disabilities. I can't thank you enough for doing what you did. Honestly, thank you thank you thank you.

One of my friends just came back from a trip to the UK, she has MS and unfortunately strangers were verbally abusing her in public for being disabled, using a wheelchair. What made the experience worse was that friends derided her for expressing her frustration with UK people, and called her 'racist'. The dumb, I cannot believe it.

Im so proud of you, that is a hell of a journey for any human being, and there's still a long way to go before things will be 'normal' again. But good on you for actively helping yourself and realising that you need to do things for you like the ukelele and volunteering etc.

Its always more difficult to tame pairs of birds, but I wouldn't separate them now, because you'll make both dreadfully unhappy.

Nope. Srsly, its about spending the time observing them, noticing their triggers for anxiety and being calm. I had a hand-reared one that had over 300 words in his repetoire, would pretty much spend the day flying back and forth to me or being a dork with his mirror. Be gentle, no sudden movements or loud noises, build trust.

No, but people on reddit treat men more favourably than women, hence assumption that submitter was male.
