I turned 'Long Exposure NR' ON and took a delayed exposure shot (aprox 30 sec) Immediately after I turned on Image Censor Cleaning. Problem solved.

Well shit. All was good until I was watching the first video I recorded and noticed a dead pixel. When I switch it to live mode I can see a tiny red dot in the center of the image. Not happy. Working on a solution/plan for repair. I really don't want to send this off and wait another 4-6 weeks.

Edit: Fixed. Found some info online and was able to make the dead pixel go away. AWESOME!

I'm in the market for a Nikon D5100. It will be my first DSLR camera.

I have a budget around $1100 and would like to get a second lens as part of my purchase.

I was thinking about purchasing a D5100 Refurb ($570) from B&H along with a Sigma 10-20mm lens which will run me around $1,100.

If I buy the refurb I also plan to purchase the Sage 3 year warranty. Does anyone have any experience with this warranty program?

Is buying a refurb a good idea or should I just get a new kit for $750 and save up for the Sigma lens down the road?

How do you get the tabs at the top of your model space showing the open drawings?

I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts on my laptop and I wondered if there was an app that would allow you to set certain shortcuts for things such as launching a particular app, toggling through open apps (like cmd+tab on mac) It would just be nice to be able to customize things a little more.

Space heater... plugged in across the room. Electrician said it must of had a loose wire and the large current that the space heater was pulling across this outlet caused it to arc.

According to the electrician this was caused by the space heater I had plugged in across the room.

What's even more scary is this was the outlet behind my bed. I was waking up and stuck my hand under my pillow... my hand bumped the wall and I instantly felt the heat. I pulled my bed out and could see the surge protector plugged in was smoking.

The craziest part is I planned to wake up and run straight out the door to pick up a friend. If I wouldn't have put my hand under the pillow my entire house would have gone up in flames. Needless to say I went straight to the gas station and picked up a lottery ticket.

I'm going to bet this was packaged improperly. If there was enough peanuts or bubble wrap the box would not have the space to collapse like that. Either way, it looks like this got stuck in the conveyor belts.
