Often at the end of a stint, the team will practice a pit stop, changing the tyres, then have the car speed off 5 meters down the pit lane, only to be brought back into the pits.

What is going to happen this year at Monaco? Who knows. What would happen under the old specifications? For the most part the starting and finishing order would be the same. I'd rather watch a race than two hours of qualifying.

I deleted my comment because I misread yours. I like to see the Q3 runner have to set a fast lap time on a new set of option tyres. Those tyres would have to be returned and then they would start on one of the other sets, same and the Q1 and Q2 cars.

Aren't you concerned r/videos, r/motorsports may spoil the race if something unusual happens that gets larger coverage? Since I can't rule that our, I just avoid the front page.

I just visit the subreddits I believe will be safe directly.

I watch 80% of the races recorded, however I voted to allow spoilers. On the day of the race, I need to avoid not just r/Formula1, but reddit since once in a while a clip (like Petrov flying in the air at Malaysia) will make it to r/videos or some other subreddit. I also need to avoid newspapers and radio, even though I live in an area that it seldomly (but occasionally) gets covered.

The burden of avoidance is on the viewer, not the press or general public. Once I am done watching the race, I can come into r/Formula1 and read all of the posts. I don't want a whole bunch of vaguely named posts after the race, like "what that guy said about that guy after that thing that happened".

And at the end of it all, even one spoiler will ruin a race, so for this policy to work, we require 0% chance of a spoiler, which just isn't realistic.

I think you are missing the point of where the money goes. The money is to build the fastest car within the regulations. If you had no regs, you could build a race car that would be WAY faster than F1 car for a tiny sum. Power and basic aero are not expensive.
