In England the birth certificate needs to be signed by a local registrar of births and deaths before it becomes fully valid. As my mum had recently given birth to me she was kind of incapacitated so it fell to my dad to get my birth certificate signed. He didn't do it.

He tells me he definitely went there to get it signed, but there's no signature to be found so I have to assume he's lying. I don't have a valid birth certificate and my dad is lazy.

Ah I see. I have a bit of experience renting a flat in Southampton but it was incredibly overpriced and the landlord was terrible. They went into our flat while we weren't there about a week before our tenancy was up, threw a bunch of our stuff away and then cleaned and had the audacity to try to charge us for the cleaning.

Your best bet would be to find a place to live in Portswood, the area of Southampton that the university is in. I'd advise finding somewhere to live in case you don't get accepted in to halls, if you end up without one you might be in trouble.

I'm not too sure about the commuting aspect, it depends on which hours your SO is working and which ones you'll be studying. If he's doing a 9-5, Monday to Friday sort of thing it would probably be better to live in Portsmouth, but there are a lot of trains between the two cities so it shouldn't be too much difficulty either way.

Rent on a shared house (which is probably your best bet) will be around £280-£350 a month per room, some of those will include bills and others won't.

Some landlords won't be ok with two people sharing a room in a shared house, same goes with the other tenants you'll be living with, it all depends on the people really.

When she was in England last year she played in my town, I'm friends with the promoter so her and her cans came back to another friend's house to party and hang out afterwards. We all went for breakfast in the morning and she gave me a hug goodbye. SHE GAVE ME A HUG!

It happens. I moved in with my girlfriend after being together for 2 years. We were so in love and were going to be together forever. A year later things had started to fall apart, communication and sexual contact slowed. 6 months later we'd broken up but had to spend a few more months sharing a room due to the tenancy agreement and our financial situations.

People change, relationships fall apart, especially when you're young. I wish you all the best of luck.
