TROPHY CASE

  • One-Year Club

Miyaichi makes his debut for Japan! Looked pretty good! (not my vid) by ienjoycorgisin Gunners

[–]iRape -6 points-5 points ago

Just imagine in two odd years:

         Szczesny
Sagna - Kos - Verm - Gibbs
     M'Vila - Wilshere
 Theo - Chambo - Ryo
           RvP

With the likes of Podolski, Gervinho, Diaby, or Song ready to be unleashed from the bench.

I know I do the above a lot, but it's within our reach. Slip in Kagawa and we'd have such a force.

Arsenal release seven players including Manuel Almunia by 9jack9in Gunners

Now for the rest of the deadweight, provided we bring in some marquee signings.

Chelsea have told Arsenal they want a decision by the end of the week on whether they plan to sign on-loan winger Yossi Benayoun on a permanent basis by redditmyasssin Gunners

[–]iRape 2 points3 points ago

I should have been more specific, but I thought people would assume Pires would start matches regardless and would claim pretty high wages anyway.

It's a shame that Wenger started to relax on wages for players aged 30+ almost as soon as Bobby left. What a player.

Rumour is he wants a two year contract, around £60,000 a week, and many more starts. I love his presence, attitude, passion, and work ethic but Wenger wouldn't even offer that to Pires so I have my doubts.

I hope that the board and Yossi can work something out. He'd be a great example for the youthful players in the squad.

Anzhi to bid £45 million for Van Persie. by j42justinin Gunners

[–]iRape 2 points3 points ago

Pretty sure one of the tabloids in the UK mentioned his "love" for youthful teams when he first came to Arsenal and nobody knew who he was. A French, multi-lingual, intellectual with an admiration for youth development and tactics? "Fucking gaylord and/or nonce!"

His philosophies and being foreign disrupted much of the meathead, tackle hard, English league for English people view on the Premiership at the time, so he was lambasted by papers and fans upon arrival. He then didn't help himself by being incredibly successful very, very quickly.

tl;dr tabloids mentioned he prefers developing youth, United/Sp*rs fans chanted that he was a paedophile.

Pretty sure he's not, just Wenger's philosophy on developing youth. The pedo thing stems from his time in Japan, IIRC.

If you add 'made of glass' to your description, then you've got all the components that make up 'Arsenal DNA'. True story.

Just try not to eat what's left over. Remember, toilet roll is full of carbs.

Yup, it's pretty moving when you support a club with a long-standing history and they achieve things through hard work with just their own merit. Not that you'd know what that's like.

Let's have another chat in 10 years. Mind you, you'll probably be a City supporter by then.

Congrats, but let's just hope paying that much for a trophy doesn't burden your shit club. Oh wait...

The Defense Debate by ecrasezlinfamein Gunners

[–]iRape 17 points18 points ago

The problem is further up the pitch. Right where you'd find Vermaelen, haha.

The problems seem to be:

  • There's no cover without Arteta as Song's a huge creative outlet for us at the moment. Look at when Ramsey was playing in Arteta's role; I can't think of a single time he tracked back or threw himself into a tackle. I understand he has his mental frailties because of his big injury, but if it's going to make him a liability, he shouldn't play in that role. Without Wilshere there's no experienced replacement to slot in and recycle posession, which is why I'm damn glad Coquelin made an appearance on the final day. It's no coincidence that we won our first game without Arteta with Coquelin in his place instead of Ramsey.
  • Both Vermaelen and Koscielny get caught out at the top of the pitch way too much. Mostly the former, but they are both suspect to it. Without Song acting as DM, and not having Arteta or a dedicated DM on the pitch, there is nobody to fill that vacancy when one or both of our CBs are caught out. It's why teams know they can hit us on the counter-attack. It's probably the biggest reason Arsene is, apparently, adamant on signing M'vila.
  • Arguably discipline. We were woeful at set-pieces, but have really sorted ourselves out this season. Maybe they spent all of their defensive drills practising set-pieces and forgot everything else.
  • Something about a lack of George Graham.

I was wondering why I was being downvoted.

Nevermind, once Roman pulls out his support they'll fall back into mid-table mediocrity and then we only have to deal with them twice a year.

Stadiums do not determine the size of a clubs fanbase and you're naive to think so. Why do you think that Tottnum have spent the last couple of years looking for a way to build a 60,000 seater?

Secondly, as far as I'm aware, the only money to come out of Levy's pocket was for the VDV and Pav transfers: a whopping £18million. Compare that to the Sheikh's ~£1billion on transfers and wages in just 3 odd years.

You must be new to football.

United and Spurs can say as much as they like, they spend within their means when they "spend big".

If Bill Gates bought any team tomorrow and started splashing cash left, right, and centre I would definitely protest it.

Chelsea and Man City have bought their accolades, and at the same time have taken away Spurs', a team that deserve their position and place due to their hard work, clever spending, and management*.

Missus, her family, and nearly all of my friends are Tottnum fans. After a season of stick from all of them, I should be beating them to death with this, but it's hard to given how shitty the circumstances are.

Football has officially been bought. It's at times like this we need to realise who stands for what, and stick up for the good that's left in football.

What I wouldn't have given to see that cunt John Terry cry as he wallows in his own shame. Unfortunately, that cunt has no shame, and he also has Drogba.

Ian Wright's opinion on Ashley's dig at Arsenal as his team win the CL... by iRapein Gunners

[–]iRape[S] 2 points3 points ago

There's a difference between being bitter over something that happened nearly a decade ago and a once legend adding the final nail to the coffin of what he used to represent.

Instead of just slagging Arsenal off in The Sun, he has now taken it upon himself to insult a huge portion of those that used to have his back. That's why a lot of people are upset about this.

Wrighty is calling Arsenal fans "mugs" for lambasting this dirty, money-grubbing, adulterous prick after he moved across London for bigger wages.

Dear RvP by madsharksin Gunners

[–]iRape 2 points3 points ago

It's RvP's final negotiable contract, so he's going to want to get the best deal for himself because the next time it comes to signing a piece of paper, he won't have as much of a leg to stand on.

There's a difference between being money hungry and trophy hungry. RvP can still be a true Gooner and leave. He has been with us for 8 years; we supported him for 7 and he has supported us greatly for 1. However, he is at the stage where he's questioning whether he will win trophies with us as he's not getting any younger, and if we can't deliver that then I'd say it's fair to support him in leaving. We're Arsenal FC, we should be winning trophies.
