Stuck, desperately depressed female. 34 years old and all other options are exhausted. by deaddeaddeaddeadin SuicideWatch

[–]honorhealnurture 0 points1 point ago

Ok. Let's try some things that will help shift the darkness. Trust me. I have been there. The 30 years worth of depression that followed me like a black cloud lifted. Try changing a few things in your life - little things that do huge things to you from a brain chemistry perspective. Pick up a Vitamin D supplement. Increase your intake. Depression and Vitamin D deficiency go hand in hand. Look at your intake of the bad fats - omega 6's. You want the good fats, omega 3's to be in a higher ratio. Buy a fish oil, or flax seed oil tablet. Take them. Take six of them if you need to. Exercise - even if it just means taking the dog for a long walk. You will be bumping up the endorphins in your brain. Brain chemistry matters. Look at your intake of processed foods. They are poison to the brain. I kid you not. I stopped eating processed foods, especially wheat products containing gluten and the dark cloud that followed me for nearly 40 years disappeared. My daughter went gluten free and she says she is amazed that the depression lifted for her, too. My nephew was a suicidal eight year old. As a gluten free/processed food free 12 year old, his teachers say he is a new kid. You gotta give up junk food. Trust me. Get rid of the soda, energy drinks, donuts, candy, etc. Sugar depressed a lot of people because it spikes your blood sugar and then drops you. Other brain friendly supplements - magnesium and selenium. Google them and see how deficiencies are related to depression. I eat a gluten free/vegetarian diet. I told a friend, who said, "How is that working for you?" My response, "My pants keep falling down." Let's get you healthy from the inside out and you will see the depression lift. I kid you not. First things first. Get the Vitamin D and fish or flax seed oil supplements. Start there. They are so important. Pick up Dr. Daniel Amen's book, Change your brain, change your age. Or, one of his others. He knows his stuff. Try shifting the story you tell yourself, too. You are more than just a story. You are bigger than any little story you have told yourself thus far, better, too. You are special beyond words and loved beyond words. You just don't know it yet. You are here for a reason. Maybe you will have a chance to heal others. Maybe you will lead others out of their depressions. Maybe it will be some other gift as yet unidentified. What matters is that it comes from you and you are here to share it. Trust that your essence is beautiful and special and you are here for a reason. You are not alone. You are loved. You haven't exhausted all your options yet. Try selenium and magesium supplements as well. Pay attention to doses. 200ug of selenium is good. Go ahead and start your omega 3 supplements high, though. Your brain needs them. Start adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet, as organic as possible. Some people are like the canary in the coal mines, more sensitive to environmental toxins, like GMO's in foods. You may be one. You may need to eat very cleanly. Get rid of all neurotoxins from your diet - sugar, caffeine, alcohol. Play it clean. Get out side. Get some fresh air. Walk in the park. Go for a run. You must get your endorphins up. Let me know how you are doing with a new regime. I care. I want you well. The world needs your gifts. I do. We all do.

Sometimes I just want to kill myself because I know all I'll ever be is mediocre - and some other ruminations by instagoin SuicideWatch

[–]honorhealnurture 1 point2 points ago

The truth is, you are far from mediocre. You just haven't had the opportunity yet to see all the ways you are extraordinary, all the precious gifts you bring to the world. You are special beyond words, loved beyond words. You just haven't yet met all the many people who are destined to love you. I find that when I have been at my darkest and contemplating suicide, I didn't realize that things will get better. All I could see around me was pain - my past failures, my mistakes, my poor choices, mean and hurtful people and experiences. I would get caught in these loops - playing the same sad story over and over. Try a few things - just try them. 1. Try telling yourself a different story about you. Try realizing that you are more than just a story - good, bad or mediocre - the essence of you is bigger than some little story. Get rid of the soda, energy drinks, donuts, candy, etc. Sugar depressed a lot of people because it spikes your blood sugar and then drops you. Other brain friendly supplements - magnesium and selenium. Google them and see how deficiencies are related to depression. Please try these things. I care. I want you healthy. You are here for a reason. The world needs your gifts. Someday you will look back and just fleetingly remember this dark time. By then it will be long gone. You are special. Remember that. Thanks for asking for help. Blessings to you.

Baked Goods & Fast Food leads to depression by honorhealnurturein science

What I know, I know from personal experience. Going gluten free seems to be a fad right now, but I recognize it as a way to lift omnipresent depression. I also know that when a good friend went to study in Europe for a year, he not only dropped 40 pounds from not eating the processed food we have in America, but his depression lifted as well. Maybe if you tried, you would be less inclined to be so contrary.

I have noticed that redditors speak of depression (along with their witty jokes). I thought this might help.

My now 20 year old son, who is a redditor, wore a tiger costume every day as a 3 year old. I must find a pic and post it. It was hilarious.

I love how relaxed and completely trusting the cat is. Not suspecting in the least that you are going to come up and tickle that exposed belly.

There are four videos in all as part of the Global Love Project. The idea is to post anonymous love letters in secret wherever you can. The two men who started the project are hilarious as they come up with the most creative places to leave their letters. Check out these videos, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYPoWSEyz-0&feature=player_embedded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fnNMSp2cqo&feature=player_embedded and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6sTwQC8uYQ&feature=player_embedded#!

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing. It must have been overwhelming to work on a project for ten plus years and then have it go viral overnight. And, then to get bombarded with all that negative press - being accused of such a variety of things - when you were just trying to get the word out about a chronically dangerous situation. Bravo for speaking up.

I agree. Peanut butter cookies are just.......there are no words for them. They are that bad.

The funny thing is that it doesn't taste that way to everyone. Cilantro tastes like soap to some people and not others, not me. I love it. It is something about certain taste buds...

Reddit, I'm a black high school student that was told by several guys in my class today that black people are "hideous", but that I shouldn't take offense. Be honest, do you think black people are ugly? by sadandcurious16in AskReddit

[–]honorhealnurture 0 points1 point ago

I taught inner city high school where everyone was a different shade of brown, because of the amount of racial diversity in the school. We had students from South Pacific islands, the Philippines, the Ivory Coast, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Mexican and you name it. It feels uncomfortable posting this, because we are not supposed to pay attention to their looks, but many of my black students, both boys and girls were stunningly beautiful. Please don't believe that people find black women ugly. It is so untrue. I am sorry that your teacher was so unkind, disrespectful and such a poor role model.

It's wicked good. I special ordered a case, because none of the stores around this region carry it.
