Some of the beers coming in July. by achanceswin mississippi

I'm moving to this area in a few weeks. Is this one of the best places to buy beer in Madison/Jackson area? We're big beer buffs so any bars or store recommendations would be great!

Where to buy local/organic meat in Jackson? by hclaire83in mississippi

Wow, thank you! That's very helpful. I'm coming from Austin so CSAs, farmers markets and sustainability are all major trends over there. However, also much more pricey than other places. Looking forward to exploring what Jackson has to offer :)

Good to know! Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check out Fresh Market in the meantime

You wouldn't happen to be thinking of Livingston Farms? So far they look like the only local meat producers but the downside is you have to buy it in shares, but something I'll definitely look into if there aren't many other options. How is the High St market?

Damn, I was planning on hiking to sculpture falls Monday. Are there still "falls" there?

General age of those doing paleo? by Ballsfggtin Paleo

25F, about a month in, minus 5 days on vacation. I find that eating this way helps relieve me the quickest of that bloated disgusting feeling I usually get after vacation. Also, I have waaaay more energy than ever before :)

Great job! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your game meat?

What does r/paleo think about "Good Calories, Bad Calories"? by saMAN101in Paleo

I read "Why We Get Fat" which is written by the same author. I think it's similar to GCBC but a little more manageable to read. He explains the science behind what carbs do to our system once consumed and basically promotes a paleo-ish diet. This is the first time I've heard about his theory being wrong. That said, it was a very interesting read and I think at least some of it should be taken to heart

Anyone want to dispute some of these ideas? Im a n00b to Paleo by Aceoangelsin Paleo

Just want to recommend the book "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes to everyone interested in learning about the scientific effects of carbs in our system. The book is also littered with studies about why low-fat, carb saturated diets don't work in the long run. I too was skeptical of eating paleo but I've noticed changes instantly. And I have to say, I went through the "carb flu" during the second week and I'm horrified that a lack of a certain food can make me feel that way.

I'm glad this was posted. I've been pretty strict paleo for about 9 days (but did drink beer and vodka on one of them). Today I woke up with the most uncomfortable nauseous feeling that made me feel sick to my stomach. Headache, bloating and other things that are tmi to post... I've read that this is a side effect of carb withdrawl but I'm also wondering if it's because I had 2 cups of milk the day before. I haven't really had dairy except maybe to sprinkle some cheese on a meal or two. A bowl of cereal ended up settling my stomach ( I read that carb intake would help). Has anyone had this kind of feeling from dairy? Or is it just carb withdrawl?

That's super cool! I dabble in pilates and yoga as well but I've never seen this. I'll have to see if it's offered anywhere near me. Thanks!

Thanks! I like the way you outlined the three factors. I would say 3 would be my main consideration. I eat well and work out regularly during the week, but weekends always involve beers with friends and less healthy eating which really slows the progress. However at this point, I'm not willing to give that up. I'd like to regulate it better, though.

Congrats on your success! I'll check out the Perfect Health regime as well.
