Is the reverse also true -- That the Japanese don't know a lot about fucking?

My friend thought it be fun to go on the "baby" swings at the park and this happened..... by sleepysnowboarderin funny

[–]hawkwings 20 points21 points ago

You could try putting some sturdy boxes underneath her so she can stand on something and pull the swing down. Alternatively, you could dig a pit and flip her upside down.

Try posting something liberal on a conservative forum. You might be hated, but you can feel superior to all the haters.

A skeleton crawled out of my closet and asked me to attend his wedding. The skeleton is a multiply-convicted sex offender and child rapist. He's also my brother. What do I do? by Tase_Me_Broin AskReddit

[–]hawkwings 0 points1 point ago

Tell him that you would like to talk to his fiance 2 days before the wedding. Go to his house. Be friendly, but mention his prison sentence. Once you've talked to his fiance, you're done and can go home.

You need to know what these are! You can't use the words if you don't know what they mean! by PlatinumToasterRapein atheism

[–]hawkwings -1 points0 points ago

An agnostic can call himself agnostic or atheist depending on what mood he's in. Agnostic sounds wishy-washy and he may call himself atheist to avoid that. One can say that mankind has no word of God which is different from saying there is no God. The most powerful creature in the universe could be called god even though it isn't the Christian god.

TIL that Mr. T stopped wearing all of his signature gold after Hurricane Katrina because he felt it would be insensitive to the people who had lost all of their possessions by mi-16evilin todayilearned

[–]hawkwings 0 points1 point ago

I thought he stopped wearing it because of bad knees. He was an exercise nut who ran a lot, but eventually, he couldn't run as much as he used to and had to cut back on the gold. He may have continued to wear a little bit of gold after that, but not the heavy weight stuff.

That is one thing that bothers me about leashes. Dogs can't run like that on leashes unless they have a very special owner.

Sarkozy announces crackdown on Internet hate sites: "From now on, any person who habitually consults Web sites that advocate terrorism or that call for hatred and violence will be criminally punished" by maxwellhillin worldnews

I would feel better about the crackdown if France hadn't arrested Brigitte Bardot 5 times for criticizing Muslims. It seems like Sarkozy and Bardot are in agreement except that he keeps prosecuting her.

How would our solar system change after the sun goes into its first red giant phase? by adentist002in askscience

[–]hawkwings -6 points-5 points ago

If the sun loses mass, will Neptune and Pluto simply leave? Humans should be in the asteroid belt by then, so we should be able to survive that. Some people advocate O'Neill colonies. If they are built from asteroid material, then it seems logical to locate them there. We could take animals and plants with us.

Under the idea that there is the "Goldilocks" zone around a star, how likely is it that a solar system would have two life-supporting planets? by EightWhiskeyin askscience

[–]hawkwings 0 points1 point ago

Earth and Venus are the correct size. If both were moved out slightly, then they would probably both have life. If you were to double the diameter of Earth and triple the diameter of the moon, then it would be possible for both to support life. One of Jupiter's moons is highly volcanic. It may be possible to power life with volcanic energy instead of solar energy.

Is it reasonable to assume that if there is intelligent life beyond our solar system, that they may be approximately our size? by waygookinin askscience

[–]hawkwings 0 points1 point ago

Aliens with an advanced civilization could easily be a tenth our size or ten times our side. Outside of that side range, it is unlikely, but it could still happen. Intelligence and advanced civilization are two different things. Whales are intelligent, but their numbers aren’t high enough for an advanced civilization. Ants can form huge colonies, but their brain size limits them.

A large brain is good, but evolution tends to be faster in small animals. A tree climbing animal is better at 3 dimensional thinking than a cow. Fish and birds also live in a 3 dimensional world. Hands are useful.

Given that two thirds of the planet is covered with Water why didn't more intelligent life forms evolve in the water? by yaloginin askscience

[–]hawkwings -1 points0 points ago

The portion of the ocean with the most life is near land. The middle of the ocean is somewhat of a desert. Some animals are born with most of the knowledge they need. If the environment never changes, this is probably more efficient than learning. If the environment changes a lot, then learning becomes more useful, because it allows animals to adapt faster than evolution. Seasonal changes are stronger on land as well as ice age changes. On land, food and water may be in different places. Throwing rocks and spears is easier on land than in the water.

US Military Action Against Israel by hawkwingsin worldnews

[–]hawkwings[S] 0 points1 point ago

I'm sure that it was a slip of the tongue, but CNN Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr said "General Martin Dempsy, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, that just days ago said that any US military action against Israel would be premature. This not something the US wants to do, but right now, their key concern is exactly what are the Israeli intentions."

My journey from fundamentalist Christianity to atheism [long] by CitizenFordin atheism

[–]hawkwings 0 points1 point ago

In 7th grade, I was disturbed by the one unforgivable sin which is to criticize God. If you criticized Stalin, you were sent to Siberia and if you criticized God, you were sent to Hell. I couldn't reconcile that with an all-good, all-loving God. That got me from Christianity to Agnosticism. After being an Agnostic for many years, I started calling myself and atheist, because I realized that I wasn't going to come out of the agnostic stage and go back to Christianity.
