YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE WAY OF PAIN!!!

The state of Kiln PvP. by grim0thyin darksouls

If you're talking about in the Burg, just put it down anywhere in the arena, or at the top of the steps near the wooden walkway to the bonfire. In other parts of Lordran, just put it wherever you want inside a PVP area.

I propose the area in front of the Gaping Dragon's door as an /r/Darksouls PVP arena. by gosassinin darksouls

[–]gosassin[S] 5 points6 points ago

I'm talking about the area with two rats and slimes, with water all over the floor. Right before the room with Domnhall in it, where the huge waterfall drops down. It's pretty big, but not so big that dodging is overly simple. It seems about the same size as the burg area, maybe just a little smaller.

The area with the slimes, rats and water, right before the Domnhall room, but not in there with him.

I agree for the initial trek down there, but once you've rested at the bonfire it's no big deal. It doesn't seem much more arduous than the trip from Firelink to the Burg bonfire under the bridge. If we could get a good number of people invading and hosting, there would be no reason to have to leave once you get down there in the first place. Similar to the Burg and Taurus Demon, it would be an area where you could leave the boss alive for the entire game and get PVP action right up until you go kill Gwyn.

TIL Sunbros can be twinks too. by Harpo-Marx32in darksouls

its a shame that there isnt really a system where you can invade unwilling players and expect a balanced fight

An unwilling player is by definition a PVEer that wants you out of there ASAFP so they can finish the level. Expecting them to stop what they're doing, bow, allow you to buff, duel fairly, refrain from flasking, not have a summon help them and essentially play by all your unofficial unwritten rules is foolish. PVEers don't give a damn about honorable PVP because that's not what they're in it for. An invader, whether DMB or Darkwraith, has to take the hand dealt him.

The area in front of the Gaping Dragon's door would be ideal for PVP, but I don't see it mentioned at all. The dragon is entirely optional, so you can leave him alive for PVP no matter where else you go in the game, it's easy to get to via the waterslide or the shortcut passageway, it's nice and open with enemies that are easily killed, and has a bonfire close by.

The Burg is almost always decent, at least on Xbox.

Please voice your opinions: Weapon buffing pre-duel...unfair? by Peeversonin darksouls

[–]gosassin 4 points5 points ago

Are you going to take it to its logical conclusion then, and stop using grass prior to the match? That's an essential part of your build, as evidenced by your videos. Simply because one is an offensive strategy and the other defensive doesn't change the fact that it's a pre-match buff. I understand your point, but I think the game includes valid ways to counter the buffs, from dodging 'til it runs out to using something like Great Magic Barrier. If they put on a buff, you put on GMB while they're doing so, or change your strategy to include a shield like the Crest Shield or the Crystal Ring Shield.

DAE absolutely hate obvious orange soap signs? by nineteenelevenin darksouls

Nope, because the solution is easy: ignore them. I rarely read a message, because it's going to be either A) telling me something I already know or B) trolling me and trying to get me to do something I shouldn't, like jump to my death. If it interferes with my interaction with something like a lever, downvote it. Much like Reddit, in fact. I get a chuckle out of the "amazing chest" and "need head" ones, too. Those alwasy get an upvote.

Darkmoon Question by Erythmosin darksouls

[–]gosassin 1 point2 points ago

Sorry, I have no experience as a gravelord. I've never been one (except for getting the achievement) and have never been infected by one.

Darkmoon Question by Erythmosin darksouls

[–]gosassin 2 points3 points ago

Darkmooning isn't as action-packed as Darkwraithing, in my experience, but it is still plentiful. Whether you get people around your level depends a lot on where you are and what level you are. If you're a level 50-60 in Anor Londo, you're going to get a lot of action at your level. Likewise if you're around 125 in The Kiln. If you're in another area, say Lost Izalith or The Depths, it's a bit more hit-or-miss. The best bet when looking for PVP is to stay in the most active PVP areas: Kiln, Burg, Forest, etc. I have a level 232 Darkmoon and in busy areas I get action pretty much whenever I try to invade. In the less busy areas it's less successful, but that's to be expected.

You can kill Gwynevere to darken AL and still be in the covenant. You can't kill Gwyndolin.

If you go to a popular darkwraith invasion area, you will get decent amounts of PVP becuase you can be invading the darkwraiths. They must be human to use the red orb, and they receive indictments for killing other players.

That's also a nice throwback to Demon's Souls, where one of the developer's messages stated "The true Demon's Souls starts here."

Since you were invaded I assume you're human when you try the cracked red orbs, but if not then you have to be human for it to work.

You can drop down in there and help him out without messing up the storyline, if that happens again. Sucks for this playrthrough though.

Also equip an upgraded Dingy Robe, antiquated skirt, Havel's Gauntlets, and the Crest Shield or (even better) Crystal Ring Shield for ridiculously high magic resist. Makes them a looooooooooooooooooooooooooot simpler to deal with.

Gmb is absolutely fantastic against the kings. I beat them on NG ++++ last night. I used up two casts of GMB and finished the fight with 3/4 of my health left. Highly recommended.

Yes, with Iron Flesh and Great Combustion. Lots of curse-resistant gear too.
