You sound like the lady who helped me with my student loans. It cost me an assload for the first few months but she not only got me into a program, but got the default erased from my credit scores, the initial payment I needed to make broken down into small chunks over a period of time, and now I'm about 1/3 paid off in just a year.

Why does it matter what characters people love? I don't question the reasons why people love Ron, despite the fact that I think he's a jealous nitwit whose only redeeming quality is his tenuous friendship, or any other love for characters that I may despise. To each his own.

He isn't pro-choice but he is against the federal government having any say in it whatsoever. He believes it should be done at the state level--therefore all funding would have to come from the state, if the state decides to support things like Planned Parenthood.

There's a difference between hating someone because of an opinion they hold, and hating someone because of the actions they'll take in the name of that opinion.

Which is one of the reasons he's (at least a little) favorable in my eyes. He changed his mind when evidence came up that showed that a current practice wasn't working.

Granted he has his own personal views on some pretty controversial things (abortion, religion, etc), but he doesn't believe in forcing his own opinion on others but letting the states decide for themselves.

edit: IMO, there's entirely too much fear in politics about being called a 'flipflopper' just for changing your mind on a subject after being shown evidence that's contrary to your original stance. I could have sworn that was being an adult with some sort of common sense, but maybe that's just me.

That's the issue now. But what will it be like in 10-20 years? Already there is more political information being passed around on the internet and through media sources not controlled by FOX/MSNBC/CNN, as well as the various Occupy movements that (were supposed to) call attention to the fact that Wall Street controls the government, not the people through the politicians they elect.

Even if I stay at a state level, I'd be okay with that. Because it's more than sitting and bitching, turning a blind eye, or expecting someone else to do the work for me.

Right now we're a country of "someone else can do it, it doesn't effect me" citizens, and I don't want to be like that too.

Yup. And everyone who's anti-SOPA is calling this a victory that the vote was cancelled until next year (which, by the way, is less than three weeks away)? It wasn't cancelled because of a legitimate reason, it was cancelled because someone couldn't handle being called BORING.
