Right, the terms Alpha, beta,..., omega make the most sense in the context of a group as they set out a specific rank within that group. I suppose in this context it might be more about treating yourself as the most important member of the group and helping females perceive you as the most valuable thing in sight.

It may be just projecting an air of confidence, conveying to those around you that you are in control and comfortable and can take care of them if they please you. Security is a major part of how humans evaluate situations and people, after all.

But yes, the terms make the most sense within the context of a group and within their original conception.

Yeah, I visit now and then, pondering the usefulness of the advice. I try it out when I'm downtown but don't take it too seriously. Attracting attention and affection is one thing, but I wouldn't want it from someone I don't enjoy spending time with.

'Alpha' has a specific definition in terms of the social sciences and I've always been frustrated with its use until it was explained. Still not sure about it, though. Oh well, interesting stuff.

To expand on what Asiandude123 is saying, I think he is saying that don't make a giant show of how much fun you're having when it is clearly an act. Or don't shoulder your way through a group in order to 'lead' them. Even maybe even, don't bully your idea/decision on the group in order to be the 'Alpha'.

In other words, relax and don't be a douche. I don't think the OP is suggesting behaviours that are necessarily douchey, but I think it would be easy for people to mistake this advice as invitations to become douches.

Ah, in this subreddit you use 'Alpha' and 'Beta' as mindsets instead of limiting those terms to the area they were conceived in. I always wondered about that. Although the OP is mentioning behaviors that are only possible within the context of a group (the first two at least).

But that is interesting how the terms are being used to indicate confidence rather than being the person upon whom the group depends to lead them.

You call that picture a warzone? I've washed dishes, bussed tables, served in restaurants and bars of all shapes and sizes, That table is FINE! I could clean it and have it ready in under 2 minutes on my worst day.

No one is saying you're slaves, just that the most vocal servers often complain about silly things. Cleaning up and not getting tipped 40% are definitely silly things.

I know it can suck sometimes but there are plenty of other jobs that maybe don't pay as well but are still out there for non-trade laborers and often provide very reliable money.

My brother works at a bar where there are servers with masters degrees who have been doing it their whole life. Nothing can phase them. They roll their eyes at the less fun parts of their job but they understand it's not worth getting up in arms about (says the guy who is for some reason really concerned that everyone understand why that table is fine).

I wouldn't consider that trashed, I'd call it pretty standard for a family with small kids. And it would take about 2 minutes to clean up, hardly more than it would take to clean up a table with a few crumbs on it.

The sanitary rag must be run over all food surfaces, the benches take about 10 seconds each to wipe off, this is really not a bad table. At all.

I would say that if the restaurant clearly takes no pride in itself, why should the customers? They came in with their family to enjoy a meal free of the hassles of preparation and clean up. They had small kids who throw stuff everywhere. I don't think there is anything wrong with this picture.

I've been a bus-boy and been disgusted with the state of tables at fairly high class establishments, but it's a job. Customers aren't coming there for the privilege of being tidy and cleaning up after themselves.

Totally! If I have to take the five minutes it would take to sweep their remnants into a bus-tub and run a rag over the table, fuck that! I'm working at this shitty job because I am a brilliant person who has better things to do with my time than clean up after families who come into the family friendly environment.

The picture definitely resembles the Gremlin form of the Mogwai/Gremlin animal. I'm not sure if it ever defined the exact term for the species as a whole. Perhaps the mogwai is similar to the pupa stage of insects.

Premises are not evidence. Premises are the grounds for making a conclusion. They are the steps an argument must make to reach a conclusion. The paragraph above is obviously a poor example.

That being said, I'd say that it is a premise (a really shitty premise in a really shitty argument) with the conclusion being witches are real
