President Obama Speaks at the Associated Press Luncheon by mishpatin politics

[–]firesidechat 2 points3 points ago

"Let’s just step back for a second and look at what $150,000 pays for: A year’s worth of prescription drug coverage for a senior citizen. Plus a new school computer lab. Plus a year of medical care for a returning veteran. Plus a medical research grant for a chronic disease. Plus a year’s salary for a firefighter or police officer. Plus a tax credit to make a year of college more affordable. Plus a year’s worth of financial aid."

Or a tax cut for a millionaire. Seems like a pretty clear choice to me.

USA Today/ Gallup: Obama beating Romney 51% - 42% in key swing states. by firesidechatin politics

[–]firesidechat[S] 0 points1 point ago

More like the case for new candidate from a brokered convention. None of these guys has a chance. Romney might have been able to beat Obama at one point (and may still), but the primaries have really damaged the current crop.

When you call people silly names you sound like you're the kind of person who blindly swallows the market tested talking points that blanket right wing media. Heritage is a think tank that ran a paid campaign to confuse the public on the dangers of smoking in the 90s, so they have no credibility. The second article is about one oil company suing the interior department - I bet that's never happened before - and the last is a hear say piece about Bill Clinton's opinion. Your links are garbage.

What do think happens when 1400 leases are extended? You understand what extended means, right? You understand that opening reserves means allowing applications for drilling permits, which is what happens right before companies actually get drilling permits, right?

The fact of the matter is domestic drilling isn't going to have much of an impact on gas prices one way or the other. Oil is a global commodity, we have very little of the worlds supply here in the US, and there are millions of new cars being driven in developing countries every year. That's the main reason why gas prices are rising - not Obama's drilling policies.

The republicans are out there talking about taking away birth control, bombing Iran, and making crazy promises about gas prices, all the while watching their approval numbers drop. Meanwhile, the economy is improving, the market is booming, and unemployment is dropping. Not everyone is as hyper-partisan as you. For most people, reality is good enough. Maybe that makes us all Obamorons.

When you use phrases like obamorons you immediately loose the argument.

But whatever. I guess this is all just liberal propaganda.

Given the gap between GOP talking points concerning Obama's record on domestic production versus reality, it's pretty hard to see how they get any traction on this issue at all. I'm looking forward to the debates.
