I'd happily sign it but I can't get past their freaking captcha (text or audio).

How did you learn to type? by Captain_Teemoin AskReddit

Freshman year typing class. On a manual typewriter, no less.

It's ridiculous how easy it is to roast a chicken, and that few people do this.

Have never thought to add avocado!

My favorite - bagel, cream cheese (though lately, been subbing spreadable goat cheese), pesto, thin sliced tomatoes, thin sliced onions and fresh ground pepper. I freeze pesto in ice cube trays basically for this purpose alone.

Close 2nd – toasted sesame bagel, slathered with butter and topped with a ton of cracked pepper. I picked this up from a customer of a cafe I worked in. Sounds strange, but so good.

1st: Zatarain's jambalaya

I dress it up a little by adding a can of Ro-Tel (cut the water by 1/2 cup), and throw in a a cut up boneless chicken breast or thigh, and 2 sliced smoked sausages. So much better than food out of a box should be.

2nd: tuna casserole -- cook egg noodles, drain them then throw them in a casserole dish with a can of cream of mushroom soup and a can of tuna, saute some breadcrumbs in butter and sprinkle them on top. Pop it in the oven at 375 for 15 minutes or so. Doesn't sound like much, but it's really satisfying.

Both my husband and I like to cook and quite good cooks - these are what we make when we're feeling lazy / pressed for time.

In this floating fishing village some people don't touch earth for months at a time by philmarredditin travel

Worth splurging for the luxury boats. From what I gather, they take a different/less crowded route through the bay. We certainly enjoyed it.

It's still beautiful and I think worth the trip.

Anyone know when La Tuna will reopen? by skintighin sanantonio

[–]fiddlechick 0 points1 point ago

It's open. Looks fab inside. They had to gut it and start from scratch -- it was way more damaged than I realized. Now just one bigger dining instead of that weird room in the back and the front room.

Student needs help with inDesign by LSD_Sakaiin Design

[–]fiddlechick 1 point2 points ago

Also - just because you're using InDesign for the main layout doesn't mean Photoshop is gone. If you want to create something using one of the brushes you're used to, you make it in Photoshop and place it into InDesign.

Whatever you use for tutorials, definitely get your head around Style Sheets and Master Pages -- this will ensure consistency in the layout.

Automatic page numbers will also be a big time saver.

The Book feature is also handy - you can have the publication broken up into different InDesign docs (since there are multiple people working on it), and use the Book function to print the whole thing, synchronize swatches, etc.

Mid-century Modern Furniture here in S.A. by [deleted]in sanantonio

[–]fiddlechick 0 points1 point ago

Thanks for posting - caught a glimpse of this sign driving by yesterday and wondered what it was.

Another good place for originals is Oz on the corner of Hildebrand and McCullough (attached to the Bharmacy). Tiny little place that specializes in mid-century modern furniture.

[Thurs] Need /r/sa's help finding a last minute White Elephant gift by tickle-teh-picklein sanantonio

My old standby is a really godawful CD - like Yanni or John Tesh. If you want to be kind, you can include the gift receipt so they can exchange it for something that doesn't suck.

Best burger joint in SA? by Ferninatorin sanantonio

It's definitely a bar. I wouldn't bring the kiddos unless the weather's nice enough to sit out on the patio.

What's the most common, everyday thing you don't know how to do? by syoin AskReddit

[–]fiddlechick 0 points1 point ago

A lot of people suck at this. Ask questions. People love to talk about themselves. If you're at a party, "How do you know so-and-so?" General: "Are you originally from such-and-such?" If not, what brought them here, how long, blah blah. It gets easier.

As much as I want to believe this (because I speak Spanish but can't roll my Rs), I can't find anything to back this up.

No citation, but this site says it's not genetic (step 10).

Best Restaurants in San Antonio, TX by lPsyclkoin sanantonio

This is a pretty good list.

I don't know that I'd personally agree with Sandbar being #1, but I don't see a bad one on the list.

It's a shame The Lodge is closing at the end of the year.

I'm sick to my stomach of tuna and lean meats, what are some extremely high protein alternatives? by Lumbin Fitness

[–]fiddlechick 8 points9 points ago

I'm not sure what labels you're looking at. Generally about 1/4-1/3 of the carbs are fiber, but there are definitely carbs in beans.
