TROPHY CASE

In around 120 years, every person currently alive will be dead, and the earth will be completely populated with people that have not yet been born. What other inevitable facts about the future do you think about? by diddletapflamdiddlein AskReddit

C.S. Friedman's book "This Alien Shore" takes place in a future similar to what you describe, although I believe the process was accelerated by having the initial interstellar flight cause mutations to the colonists.

Hey, I have flair! by MichaelJSullivanin Fantasy

As a result of this flair comment, I just read your recent AMA and I'm pretty much sold; Riyria is officially on my list of fantasy series to read. Although this is not at all an AMA, after reading one (especially one with well-thought out answers), I feel like contributing a question. I'm quite an avid reader and most of it comes from the public library. Occasionally I will purchase books I like - primarily to loan out to other people and to augment my collection. I think of library loaning on par with illegal downloading of shows and music; free taste. So, how do you feel about people who read your books from the library without purchasing them?

What kind of squirrel is he? (He sort of looks like a fox squirrel from the photos.)

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: “Mankind.” Basically, it’s made up of two separate words-”mank” and “ind.” What do these words mean? It’s a mystery, and that’s why so is mankind. - Jack Handey

Brent Weeks Q&A! by gunslingersin Fantasy_Bookclub

I'm quite excited about the release of The Blinding Knife in just a few short months. Apparently I have a special fondness for fantasy books that are based on color magic. Of late, I have read Brandon Sanderson's "Warbreaker" and Jasper Fforde's "Shades of Grey." Do you have any recommendations of other books in this narrow genre? I'm not as familiar with the older fantasy literature and perhaps you have come across some while working on/doing research for the (awesome) Lightbringer series.

That's a normal response. If you eat something that makes you vomit, your body remembers that so you don't want to eat the vomit-inducing thing again.

After a very long break from fantasy (20+ years) I've recently rediscovered the passion I had for it when I was young, thanks to Peter Brett, Patrick Rothfuss and Brent Weeks. Can anyone recommend an author I might try next? by TroyPDXin Fantasy

I can't tell you how many series I've had this happen to! Most memorable case for me is Zelazny's Amber chronicles, where I read 9.5/10.

When finished with a good book or series of books, I feel like me and the characters are breaking up. by verucab1in books

Same here. I also use books and series as escapism and when they end, I'm sad because I have to go back to real life. Fortunately, there are many good series to get attached to.

I messaged GRRM about the TWoW blurb that Amazon had up, and he replied: it's fake. by jurblein asoiaf

[–]fat_squirrel 1 point2 points ago

Actually, as someone who had a five or six year gap before ADwD, it just becomes another of many unfinished series that I'm into. I read and watched a lot of things in the interim and got caught up in them to the same degree that I was caught up with ASoIaF. It's always hardest when there's an abrupt stop in a series after intensely getting involved, but that fades with time. Unfortunately, I do find it hard to attain the same level of enthusiasm when I resume the story, but that's just they way it is.

3 and 4. STOP PUKING ON THE CARPET. The tile floor is right over THERE! Also, kitty hogs the pillow. The entire thing.

I have been experimenting on Reddit with different usernames, one obviously male and one obviously female. I noticed that there is much more hostility towards women on here and I really like my male account better because my opinions are respected more. by banway22in TwoXChromosomes

However, in a subreddit like 2XC (about female things for the most part), the female perspective should hold more weight in an argument. But otherwise I agree.
