Tiny Lamb, the Third Triplet from a Welsh Mountain Ewe. by Bambi_91in aww

[–]exotics 0 points1 point ago

feel free to cross post in /r/livestock we love cute lambs too.

I have kitten. Need some basic advice on how to make sure the little bastard grows up to be a nice pet. by MuletTheGreatin Pets

[–]exotics 3 points4 points ago

Having the litter box in the laundry room can sometimes be bad if it is right next to the laundry machine and the machine changes cycle while kitty is using it - that can be very traumatizing. Where ever you do keep it - shut him in that room at night and when you are away for further litter reinforcement training.

-Pork is not good for them. A chicken based cat food is best.

  • in regards to point 8 - he is a kitten for gawd's sake - what did you expect?

Overall - NEUTER at around 8-10 months - makes all the difference in the world!

Gervai is from the UK so he is super well known in the UK.

He is fairly well known in Canada too, as that is where I am from. Pretty well known in the US- creator of The Office.,..

My sister named her son Zephron - Not sure if I have the spelling right but he was the guy who invented Warp Drive. I am not familiar with your name reference from Star Trek (shame on me).

Me too, I worry so much about them, we are hobby farmers more than "real" farmers!

Oh thanks. I have actually been very busy. I did not splint but went out a few times in the day, for a couple of days and straighted the legs, they are walking pretty much normal today.

We have been swamped in lambs, its funny we have fewer sheep than ever, and they are having their lambs super close together! I took pics but have no idea how to up load them so have to wait for hubby to do that.

I remember in College we had a foal that was the opposite, she walked on the back of her fetlocks, I am trying to recall but I think we were told to keep her less active so the tendons would get stronger, I am wondering if this lamb will get stronger on her own too. I hate it when animals are suffering - its a blizzard so I would hate to ask the vet to come on a day like today.

New Bill 37 in Ontario aims to strip animals of all their rights by broccolicatin AnimalRights

[–]exotics 1 point2 points ago

You should post in the Ontario subreddit too if their is one. Right a letter to the editor of your local newspaper - in as few words as possible, state the changes and why they are bad and where people can complain - online petitions are not as good as calling thier local political voting rep.

Gallery of the World's Smallest Animals: I like Einstein by acchickenin aww

[–]exotics 0 points1 point ago

I had to vote this down for ethical reasons.

Breeding animals to be stunted and abnomally small is unethical - these animals often suffer from deformities including things like liver shunts, their lives are often painful and short.

They may be "cute" but people are resorting to hideous tactics (including underfeeding and feeding the wrong food) to stunt poorly bred animals.

Cats and Milk by psychroclasmin Pets

I give my cats treats for cleaning their teeth, not sure on "health" value though, but at least their is a benefit.

Cats and Milk by psychroclasmin Pets

Milk is bad for cats for more reasons than the lactose. Not all cats are lactose intolerant, most are. The calcium is also linked to causing urinary tract problems.

The cat milk treat others have suggested is a gimmick, no nutritional value.

Do Redditors steal cats? by Shaawnn102in cats

[–]exotics 12 points13 points ago

Actually you are best to bring it indoors and CALL the shelter. Report it found, ask them to check their lost files.

You can take it to the shelter, or vet, to be scanned if after a few days nobody claims it.

Indeed finding a cat (or dog) and keeping it without calling to report finding it can be considered THEFT in some situations. By filing the FOUND PET report you are covered.

I do have it mentioned on the /r/pets side bar that if you find a pet to call the shelter - perhaps /r/cats might want to do that here too.

Are you effing KIDDING me??? New sled dog regulations in B.C. offer instructions on how to "humanely shoot" unwanted dogs by paranoid_ferretin AnimalRights

look at rabbits and chickens too - there are no humane slaughter laws to protect them.

animal shelters "euthanize" aniamls all the time because they "want to get rid of them" due to overcrowding - infact in the USA alone over 4 million perfectly healthy cats and dogs are euthanized in shelters every year.

"Euthanizing" as nothing to do with "why" but I still would not consider shooting them to be euthanaisa as I feel that is more of a chemical thing - injection or (yuck) gassing.
