Need Help Repairing an HTC One X by erethangbagelin Android

Cool thanks. Can you go into a little more detail in the hairdryer thing? I've never replaced the screen on a phone before, but if this is something I could do on my own, I'd totally be down.

What is the purpose in putting the cardboard down on the bottom? When I have installed beds like this I have mixed the soil in the ground with whatever I am filling the box with.

Looks great, though! Best of luck.

To give you an idea how far they fell check out this link. The Satellite dish they fell from is out of the screen, but it is above those pots in the back left corner of the porch. They will be fine, I believe.

I don't think so. The nest that our little guys "fell" out of is about 7 feet in the air. They flap their wings trying to fly when they fall out; think chickens from the "Ocarina of Time." The mother came back several times each day trying to show them how to fly, so I don't think you should worry about abandonment. And this is even after the little guys got really used to me being around them. I think that whole "smells like a human" thing is a little myth.

That happened on the satellite dish next to our garden. Once the eggs hatched there were little birds hopping around our porch for like 3 days learning how to fly. The mother got impatient with us every time we went out to water our garden, but the new-borns didn't seem to mind. They would hop over my feet and stuff.

I went through almost the exact same thing. It took a serious toll on things. It took a lot of work to get her to the gym again, but she finally did it. For her, it was a mental thing. She had trouble making the lifestyle change to getting into the gym. What really helped is she signed up for a few half marathons, and then with a trainer. It was mostly self motivation for her, but I def had to support her and tell her I notice her differences and keep on telling her she is beautiful. She has lost 13 lbs so far and is trying to lose 17 more, and it's really paying off for both of us.

Keep the motivation for her up, and take her with you to the gym if you can. When she starts to see results it will be all the easier for her to keep going and continue a healthy lifestyle.

Also, my GF keeps a calendar and puts her morning weight on it every day. She also puts a sticker on each day she works out or does some sort of exercise whether it's running, weightlifting, or even skiing. It helps her realize when she has been slacking or not.

And of course, a stricter diet has really helped as well.

Made a large planter for my apartment. Tomatoes, squash and carrots on the way! by erethangbagelin DIY

[–]erethangbagel[S] 1 point2 points ago

So I tried sketching something up for you, but it looks pretty terrible. So I will do my best to describe how I did all this.

1) The last bit of assembly of the box was the sheet of plywood on the bottom. To do this I just laid the box upside down, and screwed the plywood into it.

2) I then drilled holes in the bottom. This would allow excess water to drain from the bottom. The number of hols was somewhat random, I think I did every foot or so. But it is all symmetrical.

3) After I flipped the box back over, I jacked it up on a few 2x4s underneath (not just on the edges, but across the middle of it too). This aids in both helping the plywood support the weight of all the dirt, and gives space for the box to drain.

4) I layered the bottom with a fine screen type material. Think like a screen door. Something that would allow for water to seep out, but not the dirt from getting out.

5) A ~2" layer of lava rocks was placed on top of the screen. Lava rocks were chosen because they are porous, so if dirt were to get between them, water could still trickle through the actual rocks themselves. They recommended this at Home Depot.

6) I then poured the dirt I had picked out over the top while breaking it up at the same time.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
