Good price from a good source. In the past I have gotten Source Natural 60x200mg (12g) for about $15.

I think a lot of brokerages have limits on shorting stocks under a dollar (I know it ended above, but it's still pretty close). Also, I think it is an attractive short target at a dollar.

Advice for getting a job in a non-profit organization? by [deleted]in nonprofit

[–]donramses 2 points3 points ago

I'm not sure about the application timeline, but you could look into Peace Corp, Americorp, Teach for America (I'm presuming you are in the US...if not there are probably some comparable programs). If you don't graduate until the spring, it would almost certainly be worth finding a local/regional non-profit to volunteer with until you graduate.

How would you invest $30,000 to generate stable passive income? by PassiveIncomeLovein investing

What does that look like? Downpayment / loan / payment /rent / insurance / taxes? Do you manage it yourself or not? Self-maintained?

Basically your App is worth the present expected value of all future cash flows.

How long will it be able to throw off $150-200 per month with out additional time or investment?

if it can be done in perpetuity, then its worth a perpetuity of $2400 a year, and discount at some discount rate, probably something similar to a high beta tech stock -- susceptible to market conditions for app and ad revenue -- so maybe 12%. Then you use the perpetuity formula ~ $2400/.12 = $20k.

Chp 7 is personal or corp liquidation. Assets are liquidated, debtors paid a pro rata share, debt discharged.

Chp 11 is a reorg, usually corporate. Court and creditors set up a payment plan that reorg'd company can pay, often with concessions to debtor. Sometimes there is a partial discharge if plan is followed.

Chp 13 is a personal reorg, similar to 11 for a person. Often done if person wants to keep car leases / mortgages, etc, and can potentially pay them off by adjusting terms.

I shorted AMR about a week ago because I was looking to hedge market risk, and thought they looked weak. I didn't realize they were this weak. :)

How to: Market Size Analysis? by TrueGreyin Entrepreneur

[–]donramses 2 points3 points ago

Basically, you need to make reasonable assumptions and build on them, with reason checks at each step. So I don't know exactly what your microgel coating is, but I figure it either coats surgical instruments like scalpels, or is applied during certain procedures.

So, if it is surgical instruments, I'd find the total revenue of the largest companies that produce that type of implements. Then based on that, I would make some sort of assume a market range between 0-100% of that.

If it is for topical use during medical procedures, I'd determine the number of procedures annually using various gov data sources. If I couldn't find total stats, I'd get medicare/medicaid stats and extrapolate. Then based on number of procedures, I'd assign some sort of range of total revenue that antimicrobial gel could attain per procedure and multiply.

If you need to annualize, you'll need to estimate growth rates. I'd look at growth rates for med device companies for their first 5 public years, and come up with a sector average.

Early market sizing is always speculative. The more reasonable data points you can get, the better the number, but it is still speculative. - Sector averages are always going to be better than individual data points, so if you are trying to determine profits, use sector margins rather than one company.

In my reading of "The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy", they mentioned a large trade in used clothes and rags in Africa. I think that there is wholesale potential for excess clothing. I'm sure they don't pay much, but it is certainly more than the freight cost. Perhaps some of your employees could spend 2 days a week cherry-picking items for the shop, and the remainder could be sold to international rag merchants.

As far as marketable employment experience, I think that working on an international export venture would be solid.

Best of luck.

Dividend stock question by imkirokin investing

[–]donramses 1 point2 points ago

Two things:

  1. I believe that REIT income is taxed as ordinary income and not as a dividend because a REIT is a pass-through entity (It doesn't pay taxes, the end recipient pays).

  2. Regarding 15% yields -- keep in mind TANSTAAFL. The market is risk-adjusting the price of the asset and the yield. I happen to like the mortgage REITs, but they are certainly high risk.

Another way of noticing this is that for a stock (REIT or not) to reach a high yield, it may mean that it formerly had a more reasonable yield, but then the underlying asset price collapsed due to perceived risk. higher yields are also more likely face dividend cuts (dividends are optional!) or are being perceived as having a greater chance of financial distress (which also jeopardizes the dividend).
