You should really use something like WatchDog Lite, which monitors apps and processes that stay awake too long and use too much cpu when they're not in the foreground.

edit: WatchDog only reports them and doesn't kill them, but you can use it to view running apps/processes with real-time usage.

It is... I've had it for more than a year and they keep renewing the subscription for another year. So I actually haven't paid for it and I've been using it for a couple years. I think it's like $1 or $2 annually. The best part about this app is you don't have to add anyone. It will automatically add everyone in your contacts if they also have Whatsapp.

I've found the service to be more reliable vs KiK and LiveProfile... although I haven't used them in ages.
