Could someone recommend me the best type of fabric to use for embroidery-hoop art? by ciroccoin craftit

[–]cirocco[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thanks for the tip! I'm kind of new at this though--could you explain what you mean?

Of course I didn't mention what I was actually doing, haha.

It's for embroidery--so I can just go to a fabric store?

Thinking about medical tourism for hysterectomy. Need advice/opinions. by mililaniin TwoXChromosomes

[–]cirocco 2 points3 points ago

I don't know anything about the treatment/medical indications for PCOS, but if it's possible, your wife should be encouraged to look into other forms of permanent birth control and less radical ways of treating PCOS.

A hysterectomy comes with many difficult side effects. Sterilization using something like Essure could provide the same effects (permanent birth control) without the complications. Paragard or Mirena could also offer a long term, non permanent solution.

Yeah, we go hard! /sarcasm

But really, we should be less serious about trivia, haha

Been online dating lately, and I'm curious: when meeting my date in person for the first time, what is the appropriate greeting? by thread314in AskWomen

[–]cirocco 1 point2 points ago

I must just have one of those faces, haha. No one has ever tried that with me.

I always shake hands. I don't want a stranger to hug me unless we've talked for an unusually long time before meeting. I try to make this obvious by being the first one to put out my hand. If I'm feeling the hug, then I try to make that obvious too.

Plan B confusion and panic by severaldaysafterin AskWomen

[–]cirocco 15 points16 points ago

Take a deep breath, don't freak out. Your symptoms are from the hormones in Plan B. you would not have any symptoms of pregnancy 4 days (at the absolute max) after conception. Let the Plan B take its course and take care of yourself. Then take an early detection pregnancy test in two weeks to double check and get STI testing if you need it. You will be ok!

But, seriously, thanks for the info. It's both useful and interesting.

Super interesting, though the presence or lack of the polymorphism seems to vary within ethnic groups within the Jewish population (if I read the second article correctly).

Around what age did you figure out what you wanted in a significant other? by ShabbySheikin AskWomen

[–]cirocco 1 point2 points ago

It sounds to me like she's just having fun. It's totally possible to enjoy going out and meeting new people without looking for something serious. Also, in my experience, I've had super fun dates with people I liked but realized I wouldn't really be compatible with. I talked happily with my friends about those dates and then moved on because I had nothing invested in them other than a good time. As long as no one is unhappy, then it's all good.

In my experience, the dye comes off your skin just fine after a few shampoos. Looking at your photo, it doesn't look like a disaster!

If it's a light to normal amount it sounds like breakthrough bleeding. You could need a slightly higher dosage of your pill.

Your friend, M, may just not want a long relationship right now. Unless she's telling you she's unhappy with the men she's dating or the fact that her flings don't last long, why assume that her behavior is a function of not knowing what she wants?

As for your question, I have a good idea of what I want and try to look for people whose personalities would complement mine. I'm only 23, though, so I'm changing and as I do my expectations change as well.

Generally, I think people are not static and it doesn't do to have a "set" list of things your SO must have. I think it's better to try to know yourself well and try to find a person who can grow with you.

2X, is it time to end it? by alyssalee129in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cirocco 11 points12 points ago

It sounds like you're very invested in beginning a relationship with him or at least dating and he is not. He shut you down when you asked to make things more defined and it sounds like you're still kind of on his "hook." I think it's best to let go and find someone who really wants to spend time with you and bond in person.

The only mitigating factor I can think of: do you two live very far apart?

Can't deal with birth control any more but my boyfriend hates condoms. Help? by arya-horsefacein TwoXChromosomes

[–]cirocco 10 points11 points ago

Paragard, the copper IUD, is very safe. Please consider finding a doctor who will give you the right information. The insertion process could be more difficult for women without prior pregnancies, but it's not a rule by any means. Further, the risks of insertion are the same for all women. Additionally, if a doctor has expressed that you might have PCOS, also consider finding a doctor that will help you find out if you actually have it and decide on treatment.

As for the other issue, if you're unhappy with your current pill and are medically unable to take other birth control and don't want to become pregnant, the only answer is condoms (unless your boyfriend is going to get a vasectomy). You have the right to feel happy in your body and your side effects do not sound mild at all. Try talking to your boyfriend about the severity of your side effects and your worry that you may never find a suitable birth control option. Surely, he'd rather have a happy, healthy partner with a normal (for you) libido and have to use condoms rather than an unhappy, unhealthy partner with no libido.

Good luck :) This sounds like a difficult issue.

My neurologist had me on coenzyme Q10 and feverfew before trying Topamax. Neither worked and the Topamax gave me strange neurologic symptoms.
