A family of Dicks. I wonder if they are related to Tim Allen.

THANK YOU for doing the due diligence here. I'm downvoting the OP's post but upvoting yours. I highly recommend others do likewise.

I used to do something similar with my kids when they were little. I would hold them by both ankles and make them walk on the ceiling. They loved it!

Not necessarily what was done beforehand, but the snickering was probably a dead giveaway.

Me too. It makes better deviled eggs and way better tartar sauce. On top of that, my dad turned me on to peanut butter and Miracle Whip sandwiches when I was a kid and I have loved them from day one. I can't even imagine what peanut butter and mayo would taste like except... YUCK!

"at least 16 years old for a ride-on mower" (referring to the same article)

My dad had me on a riding mower when I was 6 (say about 1964ish). I loved it. It's where I learned to drive.

Speaking of cicadas, I saw one of these guys kill a cicada and then fly off with it. Whoa!

I feel the same way about odorous house ants. I discovered that you have to fold a paper towel in half at least three times before you kill them because they give off the smell like a stinkbug (even alive) and if it gets on you it is damn near impossible to wash off.

DAE feel this? by nicholaswright4021in UIUC

[–]cgos 8 points9 points ago

My son is attending UIUC. For some reason many people don't understand that college is a place of discovery. It's an educational smorgasbord. You try things to find out if you like them or not. My son started out in Architecture but is now in Economics which he likes a lot more. And if he wants to change it again or go for more, heck I'll be there, right behind him. Know this. I am behind all you guys, 100%. Find out what you like doing the most now so that when you do graduate, you will be happy.

edit: a word.

Had no idea that s,p,d,f actually stood for something and never thought of asking. Just thought someone made 'em up. Now, that I do, I am wondering if those names are significant or did someone just make them up too?

Linking Weird Weather to Rapid Warming of the Arctic by archiesteelin science

[–]cgos 3 points4 points ago

I see. At first I wasn't talking about you. The article you cited was TL;DR. I read the first few paragraphs and could see the subtext of global warming melting the icecaps, etc...

As for scientific argument, none is needed. The first phrase of the author's last paragraph says it all, "it’s difficult to point the finger at Arctic amplification in causing any of these weather events..." Disclaimer.

The article is dubious at best.
