All anybody ever really wants from other people is respect, love, approval or a derivative thereof.

He just missed a beautiful RNC vs. Jake Shields. But you're right. Close is for horseshoes and hand grenades.

Can any East Bay Area redditors recommend a gym for me to join? by lollumadin MMA

Do you mean his gym on 3rd Street in San Francisco? Killer gym. $150/month. But not particularly convenient for an East Bay guy.

Again, my apologies. Also, spoilers don't spoil anything

Well that's a backhanded apology if I've ever seen one.

I get it, wife beaters are scum.

But, you could have phrased it, "Can Brett Rogers actually beat someone who isn't a woman? Titan FC 20 Spoilers inside."

And I disagree that comedy trumps spoilers as you end up screwing over other members of the community–but everyone here loves a good joke.

Spoiler in the title less than 12 hours removed from the fight.

Go to your corner!
I'm deducting a point.
If you do it again, you'll be disqualified.
Do you understand?

Fight on!

I recall Miller agreeing to a catchweight of 183 ... But that's not such a big concession. 178-180 seems more logical.

Hey, I'm really, really sorry that this happened to you.

If it's too soon, too personal, I understand....

But I have a question for you: Why didn't you run? I don't mean that in an accusatory way, I'd just like to know what went through your head. Why did you hop that first fence like you were gonna run, but then you stood your ground? Your thought process during this horrible incident might give some insight for other redditors if faced with a similar situation.

Best of luck for a speedy recovery and justice to be served.

While I do remember it being difficult at one point, with enough practice it's second nature to me now. I eat ~3,000 calories a day, and have no problem maintaining good muscle mass and cardio.

I'm not sure what sport or sports you're interested in... but you might take inspiration from Mac Danzig, Scott Jurek, Carl Lewis, Brendan Brazier, Dave Scott, Mike Mahler, Patty Knutson, or http://www.nomeatathlete.com/.

Anyway, it's definitely possible, and with some practice, knowledge and habit formation, it can actually be easy.

I think part of the problem is that as it is on the same card as men's fights the two will be compared. And the average fan shuns less explosive, less powerful fighting (even if technique and heart are equivalent), especially as it skews established gender norms for someone seeking testosterone-fueled entertainment.

So basically, for this zeitgeist, talent isn't enough.

One thing I think this perspective undervalues is the role Jackson plays working on stategy, focus, and other important aspects of the mental game.
