Crystal clear water... by dragonworthyin pics

I was 19, and go ahead and send me a PM and I'll answer whatever I can about the experience.

Your welcome! Be safe and enjoy it when the time comes! (Pro-tip: don't worry about an underwater camera. It'll only distract you when you are down there. Just focus on the beauty of it and be yourself. Look at what you want to! Remembering the feeling is what gives it the lasting effect, not the photos.)

He's taking life by the balls. He may or may not be nailing that hot chick in the boat, so it's a win-win.

The rays do a really really good job at avoiding you. The story of when Steve Irwin got poked, is because he was trying to pick the thing up, like bear hug style.

Little story; Me and a mate had freediving experience in our lake. Where the biggest thing you would see is a slimy catfish, a sunken Christmas Tree, or a grime covered Turtle (better hope it wasn't a snapping turtle!) Anyways, we were lake monsters ourselves, hugging all the grime that covered dock pillings, getting our feet dirty in the silt at the deepest parts. At our peak freediving prowess, we would dive 20-25 ft. only armed with a long pole (to feel for the bottom and ahead of us) b/c guess what, it was dark, dark as fuck. You go past 10 feet and not only would it be a pressing cold, but it would be a very very very dark green and you couldn't see your own feet. The best place was to look up, because at least up in that direction you could see a lighter green, and you would know if you were staring in the eyes of some unseen LAKE MONSTER. HAHA, I laugh about it now. Anyways, his family was going to take a trip to the bahamas, lo-and-behold, I was invited!

Fast forward to us on the ferry towards the island we were staying on. I remember that first visual. I walk out onto the deck after taking a nap, and was awoken by my friend excitedly telling me to look outside. I groggily, but excitedly, go outside. I see a massive expanse of light blue, and go to the edge and look down. I see a very light blue this time and it's speeding by. I see blurs of colors I've never seen in water before, speeding by. It's hard to determine what's coral and what's seagrass on the sand. It alternated between expanses of sand, and patches of coral and seagrass. Remember, I'm seeing this as the shade of blue changes to shades of green and back because the depth was always changing. So I see a plethora of colors, and I start to wonder what it's going to be like swimming through it. We get settled in and after a couple of days of swimming on the fringe of bays and coves, we felt comfortable enough to really get into the freediving. We took a kayak and did a 45 minute paddle approx. 1.5 miles out. We could see the huge formations of coral and we were nervous and excited at the prospect of it all. This is the farthest we've been out yet. But we were freedivers we needed to feel safe but push the boundaries at the same time. What we saw next, nothing prepared us for. We jumped in, and right away we were greeted with a canvas of life of all different shapes, sizes, and colors. It felt like we just crossed the meniscus between earth and a different planet. Everything had a very basic rhythm, and that was of the tide going in and out, gently swaying. Including yourself, you had to compensate for the sway at times as to not bump into things. God forbid you disrupted the what seemed like a delicate dance. Every now and then something would catch your eye, because it wasn't swaying in the same rhythm as the coral. Those were the fishes, determined to do their own thing, aka survive. Never have we been so close to a compact nature cycle. We felt like observers for a busy metro or business. We instantly felt a world of respect for this well, world. Nothing knows what you are. Fish react, because they know how big you are. That's what it comes down to, if you are bigger, the vicinity around you has an air of caution. It'll really breath some life into you, even when you see barracuda or a smaller shark. It's scary, but fortunately, you are top of the food chain and you can really tell that from the start. To the people who don't take the plunge, you are really missing out on an amazing life experience. Where else in the world can you be floating in the coolest, clearest blue water, sun on your back, and be surrounding by color, movement, life, and a sense of place. If you have the chance, grab a dive partner, keep 'em close, and take the plunge. You won't regret it.

Here's a JoyToKey Config that I'm using for browsing Reddit with an Xbox controller. Works Great! [Need RES] by carpeggioin gaming

Yea, I like this for really general browsing. I'll admit my config can browse Reddit with RES at the speed up light, but yours looks like it's a lot more versatile.

Honestly, is Diablo 3 worth it? by Agent00funkin truegaming

[–]carpeggio 4 points5 points ago

It's massivly hyped up because Blizzard has a lot of resources to put into a beloved game. Blizzard = Polished product. That's what fans wanted to have branded to the Diablo series.

"It's a classic hack-and-slash action RPG..." - exactly, they've managed to stick to the roots of the genre/series and give fans what they want.

Can anyone tell me what is causing this? by ikillbambisin counterstrike

[–]carpeggio 1 point2 points ago

It looks to be a texture problem or a graphical glitch with your GPU (which isn't dependent on how well your GPU can run the game, it can happen to 'em all)

To attempt to try to fix the texture problem: Go to Steam library -> Right-click game in question -> Properties -> Go to 'Local Files' tab -> Try both 'Verify Integrity of Local Cache' and 'Defrag Game Cache' (You can also just reinstall the game if you prefer that.)

To address the graphical glitch: Go to Start->Search "run" (Also found in All Programs->Accessories->Run) -> type in "dxdiag" -> Go to Video tab up at the top -> Take note of your GPU (Nvidia or AMD)->Go to corresponding GPU site (Nvidia Drivers/AMD Drivers) -> Put in your GPU specs into site -> Download .exe for your OS bit (x64 (64-bit) or x86 (32-bit)) -> Run/Install it -> Reset Computer

It can be a result of the game loading improperly or the game could be loading properly and then the GPU puts that result onto the screen. Whichever one is doing it, I can shed some light onto why it looks like it does. The CS:S model poly count isn't too high. The models are fairly simple and optimized. Game textures are "wrapped" around these models. The triangles showing up on the knife are a result of the knife model "faces" not loading/appearing. The modeler minimized the poly count for the knife model by triangulating the faces to allow it to keep it's shape but also have as little faces as possible.

Here's a low-poly model and a high-poly model (notice the triangles used in the low poly)

hold down CTRL and mouse over the item on the ground and you can then tease yourself even more by seeing it's stats that you won't get to use.

I almost had a heart attack watching this by Pniseatingcephalopodin videos

[–]carpeggio 1 point2 points ago

I wanna see the camera man unknowingly wear a parachute and do this same thing, but near the end, act like he falls off, and his friend is like, "NOOOO" and the camera man is like, "SHIIIIII..." Then at the closing seconds of the video and of him falling, "SHWOOOOP" parachute opens, troll face comes up. I'd watch it.

Diablo 3 CE available again at BestBuy.com by cooter__1in diablo3

[–]carpeggio 1 point2 points ago

I feel bad for the people who might have bought out CE's on ebay b/c they were desperate and scared of limited resellers. I was luckily not that driven to get my hands on one.

Diablo 3 CE available again at BestBuy.com by cooter__1in diablo3

[–]carpeggio 1 point2 points ago

I think people arn't aware of it, maybe 'cuz they already have purchased the game and are playing it lol. I wanna thank you too, cuz I was in the perfect situation to jump on this; I was late to the D3 hype and didn't pre-purchase and was mid-hype myself WHEN the game came out. In the midst of my "hype" research (you know the usual frantic search for everything related) i came upon the awe-inspiring CE. Must. Have. That. Lo-and-behold, it was limited edition and i was too late, CE stopped selling after launch. Well since my laptop is currently in a fix, I was holding back on buying the D3 at my gamestop. LOWER-and-BEHOLDER you post this masterpiece... it was bought within 5 minutes. ecstacy. so thanks.

Having some trouble deciding on a class... by jakegoldenin diablo3

[–]carpeggio 0 points1 point ago

Demon hunter, has the most movement based damage. By this i mean you get rewarded for staying in motion. In fact i think the DH has a higher lvl skill where you shoot and move at the same time, I think its called "Strafe".

Having some trouble deciding on a class... by jakegoldenin diablo3

[–]carpeggio 0 points1 point ago

With the amount of rune combinations and the skills I was allowed to preview in the beta, each class is going to have their similiar builds. Each class will be able to build for AoE, self-heals, debuffs, single target, and everything in between. What's your definition of annoying?

Maths has the last laugh [FB] by lieabeautifullifein funny

[–]carpeggio 3 points4 points ago*

In a social context, yes. I will elevate the discussion and say Satire is a basis for comedy. Satire is pointing out ridiculousness in social contexts. Are you starting to see? Satire->Self-deprecating->Wit = Comedy.

EDIT* You don't have to believe the joke you are saying, he sacrificed his views (possibly) to the public - so he could take the position that being a virgin is viewed negatively (or the less preferred state) - to make a joke

[–]carpeggio 1 point2 points ago

Self-deprecating humor. He made fun of himself while poking fun at a well-known stereotype. Yes, that is comedy. It's OK if you think it's not funny, that's just like your opinion, man.
