Using somebody else's JR pass..? by byfunnyimeanracistin japan

[–]byfunnyimeanracist[S] -2 points-1 points ago

I think you're pretty fucking stupid, it's not about saving some train fare, it's about staying home working or taking a few days off and go somewhere for the hell of it because I have a paid for but not fully used JR pass. I swear, some gaijin and their moral righteousness... you're the ones making us look bad.

I know that, but pretending to not have an ID in case they want to check if the name on the JR pass is correct doesn't mean I'm not carrying my ID. I could never get arrested for using the JR pass "fraudulently".

I read the conditions of the pass, the worst thing that can happen is that I have to pay 3 times the fare traveled.

Yes, because that has never ever happened before.

For what..? That's just ridiculous. If you don't have any idea, why bother speculating?

well, I guess that depends, but I don't think getting caught would carry any serious consequences! If I pretend to not speak Japanese and just show them the ticket and they let me through - I have at the very least a free trip to Tokyo no problems. If they do check it and refuse entry because I don't have an ID, I've hardly committed a crime and I'm sure all that would happen is they don't let me in.

In Japan, it's rude to disagree, girls like/think they're expected to play stupid, and people aren't used to irony/people lying to their faces. I think these 3 are the actual reasons why it's so easy to fool anybody just about anything. But there's no fun to it, none at all. They just stare at you and say "あっ、そうですか?"
