My brother died today, at 28 years old. I've never had to deal with the loss of a family member before, do you have any pieces of advice you could offer? by Jinjitin AskReddit

[–]butwithawinner 0 points1 point ago

My five year old son died in November. Here's what I've learned so far:

*Feel what you feel. Don't bottle it up for the sake of others. When the waves come, let them.

*There's gonna be anger. Maybe lots of it. Let it out in safe way.

*Love doesn't end when someones life does. He will always be there in your heart, in your mind, in your life. Don't let go of it and don't stop loving him.

*Life might get better, but if will never be the same. I don't even mean in the depressed way, just that it just won't be like it was before. Work on accepting that. (Its hard and doesn't come easy)

Stay strong. I am so sorry for your loss. Also remember, there are people who care and are there for you. Don't be afraid to lean on them.

To the fine readers of 2X who have had courthouse weddings by terroroftijuanain TwoXChromosomes

[–]butwithawinner 0 points1 point ago

We got married at the court house and its turned out wonderfully. I do get envious when I see pictures of weddings and bridal gowns and stuff like that. But then I think, dude, we saved a ton of money. And all the pictures and fu-fu pretties in the world don't measure up to the love we have. We're not really the most traditional of couples and kind of rush head long into events, so it was prefect for us. Do what you want, its your wedding!! Screw what other people think you SHOULD have, just do what feel right! Best of luck to you both!!

Im a 27 year old stay at home mom to a 3 year old boy, a full of herself cat, and dumb and smelly bulldog. My husband of 7 years works 12 hour shift during the day. I live in the wonderful (hahahah, no) state of South Carolina. I'm thinking of opening an etsy store soon to sell necklaces and upcycled thrift store finds. Im also thinking of going back to school to finish up a history degree, but financially, Im unsure if its a wise move. I love Doctor Who, Firefly, Game of Thrones, and Supernatural. I read a lot and enjoy taking pictures even though Im not great at it.

I didnt mean to make it seem like I can't express my feelings with him. I totally can and he even encourages it, but I see how much pain he is in. How much he has to deal with and I worry about adding on to it. I guess I have this unfair idea that he should share with me, but if I do with him I might bother him or make him more upset. Thank you for your kind words.

People are going to. People are also going to be dicks. But if you live your life only to please others, then you'll never be happy. Ya can't change the world, but you can contribute to making it a better place by loving yourself.

Last night, after sex, my husband kissed me on the knee. It was completely random and super sweet.

My 8 year old daughter is developing breasts. HELP!!! by dawn_quixotein TwoXChromosomes

My mom did almost the same thing. If I ever asked her for or about anything she always flipped out and would yell. I distinctly remember her practically spitting "And now, you'll be able to get PREGNANT" at me. The one time I asked for tampons (because all the girls in school had them and they just seemed so much easier) she told me they were for whores. ><

High school was full of high schoolers who probably felt uncomfortable with their own bodies (gods know I did). Our bodies arent for others. They are ours. Personally? Im fat AND Im beautiful. Those things aren't antonyms. Just find you, and do you.

For one day, try really hard to not think about what you think you look like. Think about what you are good at, what you enjoy doing, your mannerism, your ideas. Take notice of how you interact with others, the good you do, the joy you have and bring to others. Find a talent and foster it. Find the person you are and love it. Then let that spread outward.

Last weekend, I got a Vegvisir on my back. http://i.imgur.com/P9Nft.jpg I love it. It fits perfectly and makes me feel a lot more whole. It's my first Norse related tattoo, but I am foreseeing many more.

It's Friday! The good and the bad of 03/16/12 by pokemongoin TwoXChromosomes

[–]butwithawinner 5 points6 points ago

Good: Heading up to a see a tattoo artist buddy and getting tattooed with the Hubby. Also, Hubby has the weekend off, it's payday, and the kiddo is going to spend the night with the 'rents.

Bad: I'm in the middle of my first period after a miscarriage. And it's pretty bad. I feel like a big, fat, ugly heffalump. And I want lots of red meat and beer.

The "real woman" by [deleted]in BodyAcceptance

[–]butwithawinner 1 point2 points ago

For me, the whole "real women" thing never excluded thin women, or fit women, or unfit women, or even men who identify as women. For me it was an answer to the over photoshoping of women in media. Models are "real women" no matter their size, but what they get made into in post processing (more often than not), to me, isnt.
