The NFLPA has filed a collusion claim against the NFL for clubs' actions during the uncapped year. by Mister_Loafin nfl

I think a lot of people picked sides based on fandom with the Cowboys/Skins cap gate without looking to deeply into the arguments for the Cowboys/Skins case.

Raced in my first 24hr solo race by loki_racerin MTB

I should say that the trails I usually ride are very rocky and rooty. I'm sure a hardtail would be faster in another terrain.

But you'll probably have to buy another bike to be sure.

Doing upgrades to an old 1993 GT Avalanche by goodcasein MTB

[–]brown2hm 0 points1 point ago

Just as other people are saying, you'll run into a lot of compatibility issues with an old bike like that. By the time you replace the fork/drivetrain/brakes you'll have already spent at least $500. For that amount of money you could buy an entry level bike that can be easily upgraded going forward.

I thought the same thing, but it turns out I'm consistently faster on my 29er FS than on my 29er hardtail despite the 4 lb weight penalty.

Getting the right Derailleur hanger by cp120in bikewrench

[–]brown2hm 0 points1 point ago

You're bike doesn't have a hanger listed on derailleurhanger.com, so you may have to order it from GT. If I were you I'd call the guys at GT to see if the hanger is the same as one used on a previous model, in which case you could just order one online. If not, you'll have to order it through GT which is likely what your shop did. They may be backed up for whatever reason.

Having more than one is a good idea. I always carry a spare hanger in my bag.

Rookie Mistake? by ramN8TIONin MTB

Don't be afraid to be rough with it. I bash my SPDs into rocks all the time, a hard twist or strongly prying with a screwdriver won't cause any damage.

Looking for good trails in Vermont, any ideas? by flinters17in MTB

[–]brown2hm 0 points1 point ago

If you PM me your email address I can send you a map of the Boston Lot trails. The map is a bit of a secret and it's an easy place to get lost without it.

Looking out my window, it may be a few days of sun before the trails are rideable again. I usually do a group ride in Boston Lot every Thursday, but we may have to push that back. I'd say everything should be good to go by the weekend, and Millstone usually dries out before any place else.

New rider on 29er by Dabtabin MTB

[–]brown2hm 0 points1 point ago

I'd just keep working on the basics and you'll get that bike to turn. Practice pointing you're hips, shoulders, and most importantly, eyes to the exit of the turn, tilt the bike under you, and keep your outside pedal down. Just keep working on those things and you'll be whipping that bike around in no time.

Our kitten got spayed. She came home a bit drugged up and got "stuck" against the couch for 10 minutes. by brown2hmin aww

[–]brown2hm[S] 5 points6 points ago

Leading up to this there were two "suitors" hanging outside the house at all hours of the day. One of them was a black and white cat that that looked like he was wearing a tux, obviously he wanted to charm his way into my kittens pants.

Also, they both had balls, getting her spayed became high priority.

Well what do you know, I'm in Norwich. Not too far away.

You're less than an hour from Kingdom Trails (KT) in East Burke and Millstone Trails in East Barre. I'd consider both of those to be premier trail networks, definitely amount the best you'll find on the east coast. However, you have to pay to use them. It might be worth paying for a summer long membership to Millstone, it's only $40. Daily rates are $10 at Millstone and $16 and Kingdom Trails. KT would definitely a good place to start riding, most of it is expertly built, relatively smooth, fast, and most importantly fun.

There are also great trails at Perry Hill in Waterbury, the town trails in Stowe, Pine Hill Park in Rutland, Green Mountain trails in Pittsfield, STAB trails in Brownsville (Ascutney), the list goes on and on. All great trail systems with dedicated cores of volunteers to keep the trails in great shape.

I know a lot about trail systems south of you... because, well, that's where I live. I ride a lot at Stab Trails in Ascutney and Boston Lot lake in Hanover/Lebanon, NH. We also Just got the go ahead (literally last week) to begin building a new trails system in the Hanover town forest. Trail building starts Saturday, hopefully we'll have something for people to ride soon.

What was your teams most painful moment that you've watched live? by MindOfGregJenningsin nfl

[–]brown2hm 0 points1 point ago

I think Zorn's bizarre swinging gate play was the moment that I realized that the team had indisbutably reached full-on laughing stock status. There was no pride left on that team, just shame.

Is Toronto, San Jose and Boston the most likely destinations for Rick Nash? by lordkovacsin hockey

[–]brown2hm 0 points1 point ago

I never said Semin would go to CBJ, just that he'd leaving Washington and freeing up ~$7M in cap space. With Kuznetsov announcing he won't be jumping to the NHL this year and Semin likely gone it wouldn't surprise me to see the Caps try to add a talented top 6 player.

Also Nash seemed more than willing to waive his NTC near the trade deadline and I'm sure a decision regarding the Caps would depend on who they hire as a coach.

Argue Five Guys vs. In-n-Out all you want, but I'll still take a homemade burger over either one. by brown2hmin food

[–]brown2hm[S] 15 points16 points ago

No kidding. Especially if you make an effort to have fresh ingredients.

A restaurant down the street from me makes the most incredible burger. It's a burger with meat from just up the road with with local cheddar on an in house made english muffin. That's it. No other toppings. The meat is so good that you don't want any after trying a bite.

I think I just figured out where I'm going for dinner tonight.

[–]brown2hm[S] 2 points3 points ago

A burger recipe is pretty straight forward, so I'll just list the toppings.

[Bun]
Mayo
Tomato
Lettuce
Caramelized Onions
Sugarbush Farm 18 month Cheddar
Ground Beef from Hogwash Farm (mmmm....)
Sautéed Mushrooms
Pickles
Ketchup and Mustard

New Article describing how the NFC East is "better" than the other divisions by fronkensteenin nfl

[–]brown2hm 0 points1 point ago

Definitely true. The NFC east wasn't too strong during the late 90's/early 00's. However, from 80's to the mid 90's they were even more dominant than during the 2005-2011 span with 8 Super Bowls in 14 years.
