Reddit, I was let go from my job following a diabetic seizure with no explanation other than "I am no longer needed". What can I do about this? by kuwahara2kzin AskReddit

[–]brolix 0 points1 point ago

Not saying the OP has a case because there's lots of unknown details, as well as her own applicable state laws. But the whole "it's really easy to get around EEOC laws" isn't that accurate.

Oh of course of course. You should know that every legal answer is really "well, it depends" lol. Was just speaking generally.

Working in an at will state, having been fired, and having fired people. Also my dad is a lawyer and I work with a bunch of lawyers. You could say I'm familiar.

During jury duty, a prospective juror for a criminal trial actually told the judge, "If you're accused, you're guilty." Another one said "I think he did it." This was before we heard anything about the case. Does anyone have any good stories involving jury duty? by swifty3in AskReddit

to be clear, the people that made these statements didn't get selected either.

No kidding, that's probably why they said those things. Not everything is on accident.

I lost my iPhone, the casino at which I was lost confirmed they had it over the phone, but when I went to collect it they had lost it- are they liable? by thegodfisherin AskReddit

[–]brolix 1 point2 points ago

No. You lost the phone initially and all they are doing beyond that is being ggg and trying to help you recover your phone. It's unfortunate that they also lost (or "lost") your phone, but you are in no worse position than before they said they had it.

but its incredibly simple to get around them, so effectively yes they can.

"at will" employment basically nullifies that. The root reason might be any of the above, but they only need to say "you are no longer needed" etc

To be fair if this were a chuck testa, she'd have been a prostitute posting the meme herself in order to gain more business/popularity.

Are you wary of the opposite sex? What experiences led you to keep your guard up? by throwastevebuscemiin AskReddit

[–]brolix 0 points1 point ago

Of course they will. Its not like women are any more secure about themselves and their abilities than men.

But the only way you're going to be able to differentiate between the polite lie and an honest "yes" is experience.

"Getting the girl" isn't sex specifically but whatever your female-related end game is. If you want a long-term relationship or simply a night of fun, the advice is the same.

Not to mention when you're older, the women you'll talk to won't know each other, so the reputation thing is kind of moot.

haha I know that feel bro

One thing that helped me a lot is that most girls (anyone really) generally makes the "yes" or "no" choice very, very, very quickly. If she's not in to you, no worries, its not gonna happen. There is probably little you could do to change her mind after that point.

All the "no"s and doubt and self-esteem hits become worth it once you land a "yes."

knowing they are crazy, and going ahead anyway are entirely different matters

I've learned that girls (and guys?) can change their minds literally overnight.

Nope. They just decide to tell you overnight.

so I'm far more cautious with girls because I'm paranoid they're leading me on.

If you think this might be the case, ask for the sale. And by that I mean actually pose a straight-forward question in the way of "where is this going?" Doing that will either get you "nowhere" in response (which is good!) or you'll get a girl out of it (which is also good).

The reason I say getting the "nowhere" answer is good is that you can stop worrying about it, and start moving on to the next girl. That way you'll have a lot more than 3 cases to go off of. 3 girls is a drop in the bucket.

Now mind you, I'm not saying go and whore yourself out, but the more you try the more you'll succeed.

If you were put in charge of trimming Earth's human population down to 3 billion or so, what would your criteria be for who stays and who goes? by Clayburnin AskReddit

[–]brolix 1 point2 points ago

I would ask three questions:

  • Given a 1mi2 plot of land, how would you build a 1.5mi long airport?

  • What's the most wrong you've ever been? What did you do after you realized/discovered you were wrong?

  • Who is the one true god?

Based on those answers I would find who can think for themselves, logically at that, and who is willing to embrace new ideas and admit their faults. That is who I want to populate the planet and no one else. I'd be thrilled to keep a bunch of janitors in lieu of scientists, if the janitors can actually make their own decisions and choices while the scientists regurgitate what they're supposed to.

What are the health risks of LSD? by BetterJoshin askscience

[–]brolix -2 points-1 points ago

Unfortunately most of the research done on this is astoundingly outdated since being placed on the scheduled drug list.

It does pose a handful of medical benefits, namely reducing the severity/frequency of cluster headaches.

I'd tell you the health risks, but I'd be very skeptical to trust much of the existing research on the topic for fear of extreme bias (in either direction) and staleness of the research. Anything else I could tell you would be anecdotal.
