TROPHY CASE

Spending my 1st wedding anniversary in nyc, and want to know your best restaurant suggestion. by boodlein nyc

Oh god, I had forgotten about tax! I had allowed for tips, but not tax - just not used to that over here. Many thanks for the reminder.

Also that lamb looks amazing.

Yeah, I think we're upping our budget; 200 doesn't buy you much!

Just looked through the menu at Ai Fiori - looks very good. Amish lamb though? What is that? Does it shun technology? This is now on the shortlist. Many thanks!

Great suggestion with River Cafe by the way; we tried to book it on the back of your recommendation, but there was no decent times on the day in question.

My apologies; I was rushed and fucked-up the posting. We're staying near wall street, but will travel, budget of a max of $200 each, cuisine is very open.

Thanks for the great suggestions, Per Se seems to be cropping up a lot, but I'll be researching all the ones you suggested. Thanks again.

I tried this and looked through a lot before I posted, you also have a fancy dancy map with a lot of eateries on it, but they were a lot more like good pizza joints and hot dogs.

My small hometown is London, but I would still know a few good standout restaurants for special meals if asked, even if the person asking fucked up and didn't include budget. But you are quite correct, this isn't a travel agency or tourism board; which subreddit would have been more applicable?

Average tube journey time data? by richardjohnin london

[–]boodle 0 points1 point ago

Yeah it worked well for me at the time. I allowed a 6 minute average wait at the start as well as the times that their Journey Planner gives you go from when the first train departs.

Average tube journey time data? by richardjohnin london

[–]boodle 5 points6 points ago

You probably want the Journey Planner dataset from TfL, that does include busses as well though, but you can filter that out.

If it is just tubes that you are after, what I did was to write a scraper that queried the TfL journey planner itself, and grabbed the best result for each station to each station; as there are only about 300 stations (I think, it was a while ago), you end up with a table of 90K rows for time from every station to every other.

Sadly this was a couple of years ago and I don't have the data anymore, otherwise I'd just send it across.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: Clarification - It's probably the Journey Planner Timetables, not the Journey Planner API that you are after.

Which programs can I use to manage a MySQL database? (creation of tables, inserting data, etc.) by ALPHAMENSCHin webdev

[–]boodle 0 points1 point ago

I agree with this. Why have an admn system like phpMyAdmin running on a server when you can connect using a powerful admin package like this that has no overhead on the host system. I understand that phpMyAdmin doesn't have to run on the server it is managing, but most of the time it does.

Think we can all agree with this.. by carefacesin atheism

God I am so sick of people misquoting this, if you people would actually take the time to read the whole speech you would see he actually says:

Does anyone know of a good free zip code database? by Kritical02in webdev

[–]boodle 0 points1 point ago

That's the '09 version; they are publicly available now; OS releases them quarterly - but yeah, that DB is exactly where I got started :)

EDIT: linkage here, it's the "Code-Point Open" one. There is no lng/lat, just easting/northing but you can convert fairly easy.

You can geo-code using Google. I have a UK postcode database, if a user enters a postcode I don't have I ask google and store the result. If you are talking low volume, you could use that method. Have a look at the documentation and see if that helps.

My boyfriend has a 9 year old. Every year the local PUBLIC school sends all 5th graders on an overnight trip to a Christian camp where there is praying/worship. We want to end this for all children and provide the school with better options. Reddit, how should we go about this? by [deleted]in AskReddit

Thank you for actually doing legwork on this. It's people like you that keep me coming back to reddit - that and the fact that well researched answers are the top voted comment. Good on you chap.

Chat to the Citizen's Advice Bureau is about the only thing I can suggest - it's free and those guys know their stuff.

Good luck chap.
