TROPHY CASE

What "amazing fact" or colloquialism do you know is actually wrong, and you're sick of correcting people about it? by TestZeroin AskReddit

[–]biteableniles 1 point2 points ago

Babies have two sleep states: active and quiet. Quiet sleep is the "sleeping like a baby" type, where they're stationary and not doing anything. Active sleep is where they're flailing around and mumbling and stuff, and this is actually akin to REM sleep and is the most restful.

They spend a lot of their time in active sleep. They talk a lot and it's very annoying at 4am.

If you have a smartphone, install Waze. Either others have reported it and it'll pop up on your map, or you can report it for others.

T-Mobile's Free Tethering Ending with 'Ice Cream Sandwich' by Viro_Lopesin Android

[–]biteableniles 1 point2 points ago

Marksta is correct, custom roms not based on the stock rom don't contain the tethering restricting app, and to the best of my knowledge it's removed from the ones based on the stock rom as well.

It was already non-free on the SGS2 at 2.3.6. The solution is to use Titanium Backup and disable their tether-restricting app.

I imagine it'll be the same in ICS.

Same here, I have a friend who's young daughter doesn't have a bike, I'm seriously considering buying her one. It's odd to have a childhood without a bike, let alone not have one as an adult.

World War Z, read it, thought it was average at best. Why does everyone love it so much? by aka_Foamyin books

It was novel and fun to read.

Not everything has to be the best thing in the world to be recommendable.

EDIT: On that point, I thought the same thing as you of the book "Cloud Atlas," which is another book that has received great praise. Different strokes.

It's not so bad if people follow the lead of the silver bike on the right. Scuff marks on the bottom of your frame, maybe, but at least everything's secure.

Everything I'm getting from this thread suggests that Motobecane owners are less likely to properly care for their bikes, not that there's something inherently wrong with Motobecane.

Thank god I don't hang out with people who immediately judge others on their bike brand.

Here's an unimportant, barely bike-related question: Commuters, how do you lug all your crap around? by allicat_88in bicycling

[–]biteableniles 1 point2 points ago

I'm fully sold on the Topeak quick change racks and bags. For my normal commute I have this:

http://www.amazon.com/Topeak-MTX-Trunk-Side-Panniers/dp/B000FICAQ4/ref=sr_1_47?ie=UTF8&qid=1336484531&sr=8-47

Large enough for a change of clothes, my lunch, my laptop, some tools and a lock, with room to spare. I have a smaller bag without the panniers for short outings for things like beer. I also have this for trips to the grocery:

http://www.amazon.com/Topeak-MTX-Rear-Bicycle-Basket/dp/B000FI6WXQ/ref=sr_1_33?ie=UTF8&qid=1336484531&sr=8-33

Highly recommended.

Any decrease in speed means they make less money, whereas you going faster very likely has no impact on your finances other than by costing you more in gas money. I don't think it makes them assholes to not care.

My company has no limit for meal costs, other than a requirement that "it is expected that employees will use good judgment and moderation with respect to meal costs", and receipts are only required for meals in excess of $75.

That was a quote from our travel guidelines, too. So...yup.

The Thai place is called Kanomwan, and it's great. We drink at Bohemeo's and then walk to Kanomwan.

BTW, Kanomwan is a bring-your-own-wine kind of place. The owner of Bohemeo's is a badass, too.
