As a queer of color (I'm Chicano, my parents came here from México), I can tell you that being raised in a(n American) society where whiteness is seen as the the ideal has made me feel negatively about myself. Have you ever been a person of color being raised in this society? Please, step into my shoes. Go onto any mainstream American site and find me positive, desirable representations of Latinos/Chicanos. Show me where I've been wrong for over two decades.

Other queers of color have spoken up to this point. I am not the only one.

I would love to hear how you deny that America is a society/culture where whiteness hasn't been, for centuries, privileged.

my issue was with the American standard of whiteness as beauty, which is present in the gay community. that guy is Brazilian, not white American.

edit- the downvotes on this prove, to me, how petty some people here are. why would you downvote this? I'm clarifying that this guy is Brazilian. what is there to downvote in that? do you not like Brazil?
