I'm not sure about the Arboretum area, but you won't be able to find a house in Hyde Park for $1,000. I lived there for 3 years and even the smallest duplex runs $1,200-$1,400. I would suggest driving around and visiting apartments yourself and not contacting a realtor service. I've always found a better deal myself than any realtor has been able to offer me. If you want to live in Hyde Park for cheap, check out the El Campo, La Paz, and El Dorado apartments. I lived in a 1 bedroom at El Campo in 2010 for $600. Good luck on your search! I know it can be frustrating.

YES. Many of the "homeless" in Austin have homes, clothes, food, etc. They are young people from middle class backgrounds that just joined a street subculture known as "Drag Rats" by choice. They ask you for money and if you refuse, even politely, they verbally harass you as you walk away.

Oh yikes. Yeah, the city totally has to pay for your damage. I don't know why USAA would tell you otherwise. I deal with claims against cities all the time and its never a big deal. Sorry they aren't treating you right.

I'm an auto claims adjuster. Here's my advice: If you can wait 2-3 weeks to have your vehicle repaired, just give USAA the info and wait for them to get your claim started with the city. No need to do the leg work for them. If you can't wait 2-3 weeks and can afford to pay your deductible, go through your company and don't worry about anything else. Your company will get the money back for you, although it might take a few months.

There is an iphone app for that! If she has other rings that you have access to, you can place her ring on the iphone screen and adjust the image of a ring to match and it will tell you what size it is.

PLEASE take your cat to the vet! My cat ate a ribbon and had to have surgery. It doesn't just pass through usually. If your cat stops eating, going to the bathroom, or acting weird you need to go the vet right away.
