Many years ago, my father improved the formerly-ordinary high-flush toilet in our house by elevating the tank. With the gravity assist provided to the flush water, we could reduce the amount of water it used, making it more efficient.

To mount the tank high on the wall, we had to tear open the wall to support it properly. Before installing the toilet, my father made something in the style of Drake's Plate of Brass, a forged plate (found near where we live) that was supposedly the brass plaque that Sir Francis Drake posted upon landing in California.

On a brass plate, in immaculate blackletter type, my father inscribed the following text with a Dremel engraving tool:

The plate remains hidden inside the wall behind our toilet to this day.
