His username is 'd3blowz', so I think you can safely assume it's the latter.

Bit sad, really. Don't people have better things to do?

C'mon, do you actually believe checking your phone for 10 seconds after pulling up at the lights is dangerous? Seriously.

Notice I said while stopped at red lights? That was my main point. My sister got done for checking the map on her iPhone while stopped dead with the handbrake on at a set of red lights by a cop on a motorbike that just happened to pull up alongside her. Cost her a few hundred bucks. That's absolute bullshit.

I completely agree people shouldn't be fiddling with things like their phone while actually driving; it doesn't require being a motorbike rider to see that. Save the fines for the people actually putting others at risk.

It's an on the spot fine if a copper spots you touching your phone. Or GPS. Or iPod. Even when stopped at a red light.

Load of tosh.

Taking the moral high ground against misogyny whilst calling a sport "gay" strikes me as amusingly hypocritical, even if it is a casual blog post.

Don't confuse this for me defending the guy.

Plenty of kids start playing basketball, rugby, soccer or AFL and then switch to something else. Quite a few professional players have histories in different sports (at a young age).

Point is, if AFL or Rugby (or anything else) weren't around, there'd be more professional athletes in the pool for other sports.

That's called 'pulling the chair', although a rather extreme example given that he smashed his head on the floor rather than just stumbled as you'll often see.

Example here and here. Nice work!

The two sports are similar, yes. What's your point?

It's funny because the English came up with the term 'soccer' and then got too cool for it.

Actually, there is a strange spate of 'ducking' going on in AFL at the moment because of the contact to the head rules. Basically, if there's contact above the shoulder it's a free kick.

This has lead to a number of players leading with the head, purposefully taking contact or encouraging contact to get the free kick. Some do it by ducking the knees so that a hand slips up and gives 'em a touch above the shoulder (which no one is a fan of, despite what certain fans of players who do this constantly will tell you) while the others do it by leading with the head and causing contact (which is seen as 'earning' the free kick for the most part, because there usually is quite a bit of contact).

Another tick in the 'tough' column, but it has me worried that it'll take someone getting paralysed by purposefully leading into contact with the head for the rules to change and for them to stop giving free kicks if a player ducks into the contest.

They (the AFL) said they were changing the rules so that if someone obviously lead with the head there wouldn't be a free, but they're still giving them and thus players are still doing it.

A little tangential, but it shows you the other side of the coin.

Except not. To score a goal Australian Rules football, you need to kick the ball. With your foot. Football.

There's also the whole 'marking' thing (a free kick for catching the ball, on the full, from a kick). Two major parts of the game.

Sup fellow Crohn's sufferer. During the worst string of flare-ups I ever had (even though my case is 'mild') I was a six foot 20 year old male that weighed 50kg (~110lbs). Weight was near impossible to keep on. Doing a lot better now (health and weight wise), but I seriously didn't realise how skinny I was until I looked at pictures of myself back then. Same thing as when I was on prednisolone and gained a lot of weight in my face - so glad to be off that stuff. Now my weight is around 75kg (165lbs).

Anyway, got a little off-topic there, but good luck with the girl and the Crohn's, buddy.
