I can totally appreciate that; heck I enjoyed the movie as a stand-alone action movie w/ comic inspiration. From a lore / fanboy perspective, though, I guess Norton was displeased with what they did in the previous incarnation, and the script he read on his version of the Hulk was both bad in his eyes & wound up being re-written to fit actual Hulk lore / be more accurate in regards to the Marvel universe.

(I've never read the Hulk comics en mass so I can't state how accurate his critique(s) were/are).

Sadly, last I heard there are no plans to release a Director's cut, at least from what studio execs / studio PR has stated.

Norton has appealed to the ComicCon crowds / etc. to try and make the release a reality, but so far it's been a no-go.

I respect your opinion, but it certainly doesn't make my opinion wrong (because it's my opinion. ;)). And I agree, Ang Lee is the shit, but his version suffered from the same heavy-handing that ruined Norton's film, as well.

To be accurate, he HAD creative control (it was in his contract), which included executive decision over the final cut of the movie. Norton is a huge Hulk fan & wanted to make sure the studios didn't F up the lore / story as they did with the previous attempt.

Long story short, the powers that be went behind his back & cut his Hulk story down to what they thought was the right pacing & length for a successful film. Granted, Norton's desired cut was MUCH longer / probably wouldn't have sold as well as such, but it was his call to make.

This, along with some other reasons, resulted in some court-threatening (not sure if they ever went to court/didn't keep track), but that said Norton was given the option of helping pick his replacement & gave Mark Ruffalo his full blessing / thought he would make a great Banner.

This is from my research into the Norton v. Marvel drama from a year or two ago, so some info may be out of date / incorrect due to looking into this a while ago, heh.
